LUXURY CHALET LODGES ON PRIVATE LAKE

Eagle River House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-12)

Care to enjoy some fun in northern Wisconsin? Our beautiful executive log homes located just west of Land O' Lakes, Wisconson, provides lodging that you can feel right at home in. This featured full log home, Bear's Den, is on beautiful Landing Lake, and is fully equipped, with indoor towels, kitchen utensils, bed sheets and coverings. Bear's Den Lodge is 1550 square feet, with three bedrooms, two full baths, and open storage in the basement area. Bring your own disposal items such as cleaners, paper items, coffee filters, extra ice, beach towels. Two other lodges are available adjacent, but not featured here: Moose Lodge and Eagle's Nest. Eagle's Nest is the only lodge that allows pets. Eagle's Nest is often booked during the summer, well in advance. You may rent or possibly buy your own permanent fractional ownership share of five weeks/year, with the summer week time frame recurrent. Ask us which lodge is available because this calendar is for all three. We only reserve by the weekly rate, Sunday to Sunday from June to August. If you can only stay shorter, no problem, come and go as you can with the lockbox entry code we will provide with your final payment. July 4th, Christmas and New Years are an extra $100. September through May is a three night minimum, nightly rate. If you can only stay two nights, that's fine, but we have the to charge the minimum rate for three nights. During summer, if we still have openings within two weeks of your visit, we can reserve for you at a three night minimum rate. Further pictures of Moose, the four bedroom, and Eagle's Nest, a three bedroom can be emailed upon request. My calendar shows openings in at least one lodge, but doesn't show recent reservations where I am waiting to receive the down payment and contract. Once you reserve, your initial 20% down payment needs to be a check mailed and received within four days. The balance and $500 damage deposit are two separate checks, which need to be received at least 30 days prior to your stay. I will let you know when I receive your payments by email. I will email the lockbox entry code upon receipt of the signed contract and all three checks.

Landing Lake is a sparkling 220-acre lake on the Wisconsin side of the Wisconsin-Michigan border. Connected to 131-acre Mill Lake, the two lakes offer a combined 351 acres and over seven miles of shoreline for swimming, fishing, small boats, and kayaks. Our lodges sit at the end of the road, with 700 plus feet of frontage on 26 acres. The narrows between the two lakes will be fun to navigate with the smaller watercraft, but not the pontoon boat.

We have fishing for northern pike and perch out your back door and you will enjoy the piers, pontoon boat, kayaks, canoes and paddle boat that are provided. All are shared among the three cabins, with the pontoon boat using two hour sign up blocks of time. Our cabin is air conditioned for those warm summer days, and our stone covered gas fireplace is cozy when the temperature drops. We also use forced air propane in the winter. The loft and large windows facing the lake are part of the charming full log construction of the cabins. The lodges sport their own fire pits and chairs lakeside, as well as a large upper deck toward the lake on each home. The lodges are somewhat private with trees between the campfire pits and lodges. While you can see the adjacent lodge about 100 feet away, there is a sense of privacy. A walking path in front of the cabins is shared and leads to the two piers and boat house. We take the pier out any time after October 15, so if you choose this time period, the watercraft may or mat not be available. NO pier or boat access is available for your personal boat or jet skiis on the lake.

With 26 acres at the end of a road, and over 700 feet of frontage, though we're only a few miles from town, one feels like they are in the middle of the woods. And in fact you are-- Nicolet National Forest and Ottawa National Forest cover much of the area surrounding Land O Lakes and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Located close to the snowmobile trails and only 20 miles from Eagle River, Wisconsin, the snowmobile capital of the world, you can enjoy the many winter activities the area offers. Watersmeet, Michigan, 10 miles north, offers a casino, cross country skiing, a nearby downhill ski area and golfing. About one mile further west on County Road B lies Black Oak Lake, voted a top clean Wisconsin Lake. A paved bike trail abuts County B and can be reached from the gravel road leading to the property. Black Oak Lake has a nice sandy beach, boat launch, day picnic area and changing room. It makes a fun day of great swimming near by. You are welcome to swim in Landing Lake and jump off the swim raft. The water gets deep fast in front of the cabins, and the lake shore is heavily vegetated. We often see waterfowl of all kinds and enjoy loons and eagles routinely. Down a beautiful wooded peninsula trail past all three cabins is a natural small wading area, with a gentle slope.

We have room to park your trailers for boats or snow machines. However, there is no public launch or boat launch for your personal boat or jet ski use. Many nearby lakes and the Cisco Chain of lakes have boat launches. We will be happy to have you enjoy the cabin, but no so happy about any recreational vehicle or tent camping on the property. Call or us write to see which lodge is available and works best for your group. More pictures can be viewed at https://picasaweb.google.com/104683815338909603428/WwwVrboCom234594BearSDenLodge.

Great Winter Escape

Our family spent three relaxing days in the Bear's Den cabin over the 2011-12 New Year's weekend. We enjoyed our stay and found the home to be warm and inviting.

The cabin is located well off the highway near two other homes on the shore Landing Lake. Due to chilly temperatures, our outside activities were limited to some sledding and a walk across the ice to a nearby island. Inside, we enjoyed the gas fireplace, flat screen TV, DSL (albeit slow) Internet and modern kitchen. With the exception of the kids' mattresses, the furniture and beds were in great condition and comfortable.

Despite being somewhat remote, the cabin is located in close proximity to a number of decent supper clubs and local watering holes where you can grab a decent meal. While we aren't gamblers, there is reportedly a casino located approximately 10 miles away. A snowmobile trail parallels a nearby highway although I can't comment on its upkeep since our riding began and ended in Eagle River where we rented sleds. For those who enjoy XC skiing, we enjoyed an afternoon on the groomed trails near Anvil Lake in the nearby Nicolet National Forest.

All-in-all, the Bear's Den was a great place to "drop off the grid" for a few days and I would commend it to anyone looking for an alternative to a resort or chain motel.

Owner's Response: Thanks James. I think the place is beautiful too, especially in winter. Try the vilas county wisconsin web page for trails close to Land O Lakes. My dog and I ski jor around here a lot and love our trails. Which mattresses do you think need replacing? All bunk beds? Thanks for your review. Come again. -Jo
