Can't choose between Napa and Sonoma? Stay here and both are within a short and scenic drive. Then again, you might not want to leave the property with its inviting pool and lush landscaping around the expansive property.

The guest house is far enough from the main house that you feel secluded. Wander the property to discover a rose garden, a "tunnel" made of vines, stands of bamboo and inviting spots to have an outdoor meal.

A microwave, small fridge, coffee maker and just a few plates and cutlery make up the kitchen, but what else do you need in an area famous for its restaurants and perfect for picnics? The bed is comfy, the bathroom is big, and the hosts are friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoy!

Perfect Couples Get Away

My wife and I stayed in this beautiful cottage surrounded by beautiful gardens and vineyards to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. We could have not come up with a better place for our long weekend in Napa.

The owners were great to work with and we were greeted upon our arrival by a smiling face, a warm welcome, and a quick tour to get our weekend started. They also offered up some great recommendations on places to visit and wines to try while we were in town.

The property and cottage were perfect and well appointed. Given that we were there to check-out wineries and have some amazing meals the cottage was the perfect launching point for both activities. You are literally 2/3 minutes away from Highway 29 - the backbone for wine country. We could get anywhere in about 30 minutes.

I would recommend this place for any couple looking for a great escape in Napa.

This cottage was such a special find. My husband and I decided to take a couple days off to enjoy Napa in addition to attending a wedding in the area. The cottage was cozy, modern, clean & so comfortable. Relaxing by the pool and hanging out on the deck was peaceful and made our trip all the more memorable. You can tell the owners take care of their property. I would definitely choose to stay here again over a hotel anytime!

My wife asked to celebrate her birthday by making a local trip to Napa for four days and we chose Dona & John's cottage from their pictures, descriptions and reviews. An important part of our trip was that we wanted to visit the region, relax a bit from a stressful few weeks and also have Fritz (our West Highland White Terrier) with us since he is getting on in years (14 1/2). When we arrived, Dona was ultra welcoming, walked through all the details and did everything possible to make it a wonderful trip.

So first, Fritz loved everything! Outside the cottage is a large grassy area along with beautiful gardens and he could sniff, sun himself and relax a lot. In fact, it was hard to get him into the car when we took trips around the area for dinner! For us, it was a perfect place to relax. We could sleep in, use the pool, read a book and wander through the gardens. We had no plans except for dinner and this was an ideal place to achieve our goals. The one improvement, which they are doing, is that the wifi reception was weak in the cottage though it is pretty easy to just relax by the pool or move to the garden to get better reception.

The location is ideal for working your way up through the Napa Valley where we visited Napa, Yountville & St. Helena. Dona's recommendations about dog-friendly restaurants was perfect. By far, our favorite was FARM at Carneros as the patio was comfortable, the food superb and the "dog hospitality" welcoming. We also ate at Don Giovanni's (local restaurant), Ubuntu (gourmet and pricey vegetarian) and Bardessono (modern "spa" look and feel with a comfortable patio) which were all dog friendly and nice though FARM and Bardessono stand out as the ultra dog friendly and most accomodating.

Overall, it was a great trip. We highly recommend people to stay here and it is top on our list when we return with no hesitations!

Romantic and Private

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 days/nights in early June and had an amazing experience. It was our first visit to Napa Valley and we debated between staying in a hotel in downtown Napa or in this cottage - we are SO happy we chose the cottage. The cottage is contemporary, clean, and perfectly sized for two people. The bathroom is also spacious and the shower was very nice. We spent most of our time during the days visiting wineries and vineyards further north (St. Helena, Rutherford, Oakville) but the cottage was a quick 20 - 30 minute drive away so the distance was not a major issue for us. We also probably never would have visited some great Carneros attractions (Domain Carneros for sparkling wine, Boone Fly Cafe for breakfast) had we stayed further north. Dona made excellent recommendations on vineyards and restaurants - in fact, our favorite part of wine touring was visiting a family owned vineyard (Kelham) that we never would have known about if it were not for Dona's recommendation. Because we spent the days visiting vineyards, we spent the majority of our time in the cottage at night after returning from dinner - the fire pit and lights in the backyard were a peaceful and romantic way to end each night. Because some of the reviews mention that the cottage is good for 55+, I also wanted to point out that my boyfriend and I are in our mid-20's so this cottage would appeal to couples of all ages. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic, private getaway in Napa Valley.
