This Eastham house is ideally located on a private road on spring-fed Herring Pond, a trout-stocked pond that is wonderful for swimming and watching the sunset and herons. Take a 1 mile bike ride or walk to First Encounter Beach (bayside), and the extensive Cape Cod bike trail is just steps away from the house. Bike 3 miles on the bike path to Orleans center for ice cream. Large common areas, a finished basement, and plenty of bedrooms make this an ideal location for a family gathering. Free wireless Internet service, too.

Location: Cape Cod < Massachusetts < USA

Nearest Beach: beach at 1 Miles
One mile from the gorgeous bayside beaches, and about 2-3 miles from the ocean beaches. Herring pond is a clean, spring-fed pond that is quiet with no motorized boats. There is a private sand beach right at the edge of our property, and a private dock. Nearby are several other kettle ponds, one with an enclosed playground. (Long Pond.) The CC Rail Trail (bike path) stretches for miles. You can walk to Eastham's historic windmill green, and tour the functioning windmill. Enjoy free concerts there in the summer. Provincetown is about 30 miles away. Summer theater for adults and kids is vibrant in Wellfleet next door. At nearby Salt Pond Visitor's Center sign up for walking tours, orienteering, clamming, and more. Also, the Wellfleet Bay Audobon Sanctuary is 4 miles away and shouldn't be missed. Don't forget one of the last Drive-In movies in the country is a few miles down the road.

Notes: Not pictured is the full kitchen. It is a large area, and I could only get half of it in the shot. That and the little kitchenette and bar are the least updated part of the house in terms of aesthetics, but are perfectly functional and spacious.
