5 people 5 days

Review Submitted: October 18, 2011 Date of Stay: October 2011
The location of the apartment is excellent and the neighborhood is without any doubt one of the best to stay. We were 5 people in the apartment which is the maximum allowed. I don't recommend at all if you're going to be this number of people because there isn't enough beds. There is a double bed with two mattresses, an extra bed and a armchair turn into bed that is really uncomfortable. That's it, the other has to sleep on a sofa (is not a bed) unsuitable even for a nap. For the rest, the apartment is fine. The only complaint besides the beds, is when we arrived, the kitchen was dirty and the light of the toilet didn't works and the owner didn't anything and we didn't know anything about him throughout our stay.

Charming apartment, wonderful neighborhood

Review Submitted: August 27, 2011 Date of Stay: August 2011
We just returned from a great week in Amsterdam and loved our stay in this apartment. The location absolutely cannot be beat. It's within easy walking distance to all the major attractions, but well outside of the tourist core. Shops, cafes, and pubs abound (Eetcafe Rosereijn on Haarlemmerdijk was a favorite), and there are a number of small markets and grocery stores within a 5 minute walk or less. Public transit is easily accessible via the Nw. Willemsstraat tram stop a few blocks away. Although the neighborhood teems with activity, it's amazingly quiet at night.

Previous reviewers do not exaggerate about the steep, narrow, winding stairs in the apartment. This apartment would not be a good choice for anyone with mobility concerns or for families with young children. The stairs were intimidating at first, especially with luggage in tow. But after just a day or two, walking up and down the three flights of stairs in the apartment became second nature, and they contribute greatly to its charm. The apartment itself is spacious yet cozy. We prepared a couple of meals in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoyed planning our days over breakfast at the large dining table and relaxing in the living room at the end of the day. The apartment easily accommodated our party of three, and the second bath (half-bath) off the kitchen was a nice perk. (The main bath is on the top level next to the bedroom.)

It's worth noting that the apartment and its furnishings do show signs of wear. The walls and stairs are ready for a fresh coat of paint, some of the furniture is worn out, the rooftop terrace (a great feature on cool, clear nights) is cluttered with broken chairs, and the whole apartment could benefit from a thorough deep cleaning (there was a thick layer of dust under some furniture). If you're expecting 4-star luxury, this is not the place for you.

But if "cozy and comfortable" is your style, if you like to get away from the crowds of tourists and experience a city as the locals do, and if you value a responsive, easy-to-work-with apartment owner (we never met Mok, but handled all communication quite easily via e-mail), this could be a great option for you. The apartment became more and more charming to us as the week went on, and we certainly would not hesitate to stay here again on our next visit or recommend this rental to friends. We loved our stay here.

My Home in Holland

Review Submitted: March 29, 2011 Date of Stay: March 2011
I just returned home from my annual vacation to Amsterdam. I found this apartment in 2009 and I haven't stayed at a hotel since. The location of the apartment is in the peaceful/romantic Jordaan District, and is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Centrum. As a 26yo male, the roof top access is heavenly for a smoke and a glass of wine. The apartment is very spacious and very welcoming. On Saturday mornings there is an open market right outside of the apartment and there is an Aldi grocery store right around the corner. There are several sushi bars and cafes around the corner as well. I am most impressed with the renter Mok. He has been very prompt, professional, and accepts Paypal! I would recommend this apartment to any family or friends that want to go to Amsterdam.

wonderful apartment!

Review Submitted: March 23, 2011 Date of Stay: March 2011
We had a fantastic stay in this apartment for a week. The neighborhood is my favorite to stay in Amsterdam...convenient to most attractions, safe, full of cafes and local charm without being touristy. Mok is very responsive and easy to deal with. The apartment has typical Amsterdam charm with narrow, steep, winding stairs (be prepared in terms of luggage.) It's very comfortable, if a bit worn as you might expect from any place that has regular use in this way. We certainly would love to stay there again next time we visit.

Amsterdam apartment

Review Submitted: December 14, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010
Great location-Within walking distance of all tourist sights. The Main street of Jordan is 2 blocks away; with a large grocery store, coffee houses and shops. The neighborhood is real safe and friendly. We were surprise by the number of bicycles, they have bike lanes and if you are in their lanes you must watch for them as you would for cars on roadways(www.nomoresnow.com).
All necessary items are in apartment; washing machine, wi-fi, tv, etc., everything is clean.
The apartment is large and is on 3 floors.
Mok the owner is more than accommodating.
We stayed one week and would not hesitate to stay there again except longer next time.
As with all Amsterdam homes the buildings are higher than wider and floors are connected with steep narrow stairways. We were on a 10 month world tour and this was one of our better apartments.
