Our lake retreat is situated on the North Shore of Middle Cullen Lake, newly constructed and set up as a True Up-North Retreat! You'll drive 2 miles north out of Nisswa on Hwy 371, take a right on Wilderness Road. Drive 2.5 miles on asphalt to property location. Please take your time as the road winds through a canopy of trees, as you start to anticipate the exciting vacation that lies ahead!
Middle Cullen is part of a three lake chain with over 1400 acres and 16' water clarity. The skiing and boating are superb. The fishing is excellent with large numbers of bass, nice sized walleye, northern pike and outstanding panfish mixed in for fun. Our penninsula setting is quiet with miles of Walking/Jogging Trails.
With the towering red & white pines that have a tranquility all of their own, to the 102' of lakeshore frontage, you'll fall in love with the beauty of the lake. This is truly a first class getaway with amenities such as granite kitchen counter tops, relaxing screened-in vaulted knotty pine porch, wet bar and pool table room to name a few.
P.S. Don't forget the unique gift shops and boutiques in Nisswa and Peguot Lakes. Both towns are only 5 miles away from your vacation location. And you can ride your Bikes into both towns on the Paul Bunyan Trail System........Did I Mention........The many Golf Courses in this neck of the woods are second to none.

This was our third (3-night) stay at this fabulous lake home retreat. Once again, everything was sheer perfection for our 3-generation family-of-6. We arrived to the spotless lake home, with a delicious apple pie awaiting us. Each person got their own room (all beds are comfortable), so plenty of personal space, as well as ample shared spaces. There are three levels, with a full bathroom on each, a billiards room--where we compete each night, a screened-in, and an open deck, overlooking the lake. There is an open, airy feel to the home, with lots of natural light streaming in the skylight, and many windows. The stone (gas) fireplace adds a coziness in the mornings and nights.
Each day, we spotted (and heard) four loons, and spent time on the water near them, (on a rented kayak, canoe, and pontoon boat). We enjoyed 2 bonfires (s'mores! no mosquitoes!) and experienced (from the front row!) one of northern Minnesota's quickly-passing, dramatic, lightening storms over the lake. My niece delighted in the nearby Wilderness Resort's indoor swimming pool (a short walk; $7/day), and games room.
Joel and Shelley are the best hosts you can imagine. So thoughtful and genuine, and they know the area well. They will happily answer any questions you may have about the property, weather, activities in the area, etc.
We just left the lake home and cannot say enough about the property and the owners. The house is roomy, beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean! We loved the pool table(as the weather was not very cooperative during our stay) The beds were very comfortable and the rest of the furniture is in great condition. Joel was fantastic to work with. He always responded to me in a timely manner and was very kind and thoughtful on the phone. The ice maker was not working in the freezer so they supplied a bag of ice for is. We were so happy and so surprised to find an apple pie and ice cream waiting for us upon arrival! It was such a nice touch and a perfect example of their thoughtfulness and the fact that they think of everything. They truly see you as a guest in their home. Thank you Joel and Shelly for the perfect stay!
A luxurious get-a-way... the owners have thought of everything that would make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We were so lucky to have found this property--our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We rented a large pontoon and were able to have our whole family onboard to view the sunsets and listen up-close to the loon calls. We felt like we were at home and were sad to leave! The lake is clean, full of fish, and there was a great sand beach for the kids to romp around. We would love to come back... except we want a place of our own just like it!!
We had a wonderful family vacation at this wonderful oasis. Three generations had fun, relaxed and enjoyed each other's company, enhanced by the comfort of this home and the tranquility of the surroundings. The home is large enough for a group of 8 and very well maintained. Pool table a bonus. It was quite nice to have use of the amenities (beach, boats etc) next door. Nisswa is also close enough should shopping or other needs arise. All in all we had a very nice experience at this home and we wouldn't hesitate to go back again. Thank you Shelley and Joel. TF
This home was spectacular! It looks brand new, it was thoroughly clean when we arrived. It was spacious enough to easily fit our family of 10. Large bedrooms and comfortable beds. Loved the deck and screen porch for dinner and early morning coffee. Joel was very thorough in everything and took the time to answer my questions. The house was stocked with lots of extras, a very nice surprise. The kids really enjoyed fishing off the dock and catching baby turtles. The swim beach was clean and super close.
Loved the location - we hit Nisswa and Pequot Lakes for shopping. Went to Crosslake to pontoon and visit the Chocolate Ox, and easy drive to Zorbaz for dinner. I would highly recommend this home to anyone.
Our family just finished our 3rd consecutive stay at this beautiful retreat on Middle Cullen Lake and as usual the owners thought of everything that you would need during the stay. The house is extremely clean and very good for allergies as one of our family members has asthma and was symptom free during our stay. This year we had lots of water sports, skiing, tubing and the fishing was great so we had a meal of fresh fish. The neighboring resort has a great beach for the kids to swim at and you can see them easily from the deck of the home. The setting is very peaceful and quiet and close to all activities in the area. Our family keeps returning as the home and setting has everything a family could need. The owners are so great to work with and so very accommodating to make the stay great. The owners listing description is very accurate but from my opinion it needs more superlatives like beautiful, great, peaceful, serene. The pictures are also very accurate of the home and setting.
World Class Golfing: Deacon's Lodge, The Preserve, The Pines, The Classic at Maddens and Craguns Legacy to name a few...Only 5 to 20 Minutes Away! Many More Courses with-in Short Driving Range.
