We had a particularly bad start to our stay when the landlord didn't answer his phone, and then acted as though it was our fault we were late meeting him (even though we left a message on his answering machine, which he said he never got). He also said he had 'waited and waited' at the apartment for us, but we had been waiting outside the apartment that whole time. In the end, it took two and a half hours from arriving at the apartment to actually getting the keys and getting inside - not what you want after an 8 hour flight.
The apartment itself was clean and comfortable enough. Linen/towels etc are provided, which was helpful. On the negative side, the oven didn't work and climbing the stairs up to the apartment was tiring, particularly with luggage. The lock on the door was temperamental and only one set of keys actually worked. The shower was also not reliable and would turn freezing cold and then scorching hot from one second to the next.
There are plenty of shops, restaurants and delis near the apartment. The nearest subway is a 5-10 minute walk away.
Overall, I would not recommend this apartment. I have stayed in New York before and I think there are better apartments for the same price.
