One of the sweetest, most delightful, and coolest cabins you will ever find (not just on the coast...anywhere!), the William and Mildred Suite is a two-room cabin perfect for a romantic -honeymoon or not- getaway.
The decor is entirely unique and tells the 1940s love story of William and Mildred, from their meeting at a Nebraska air force bar, through their long separation during WWII.
The living room/dining room recreates a vintage lounge with a funky camel bar (you must see it to believe it), a cushy comfortable - and convertible - sofa, a television with dvd player, gas fireplace, dining table/chairs, an cool "telephone table," old record player with era-appropriate records, and a small kitchenette (two burner stove, full size fridge, sink, counter, basic cooking equip, coffeemaker/coffee beans) with retro cookbooks for two. It's all set to a backdrop of 1940s menus, bar tabs, matchbooks, lounge photos, and a wall-sized classic cocktail lounge mural.
The adjoining bedroom will blow you away with William and Mildred's actual love letters, written daily (and sometimes twice or three times a day) over the course of two years during the war and right up until their wedding. Add a cozy gas fireplace, television with dvd player, huge posturpedic king bed, tons of pillows, high quality linens, and beautiful vintage fabrics throughout, and you'll be just as snug as can be.
The cabin has two bathrooms! Two! One has a fancy bubbly tub and the other has a rainy-type shower. Both are stocked with our yummy and earth-happy soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion - all in large dispensers (none of those silly little bottles here).
What else? Super cool old lamps. Your own deck with adirondack chairs and barbecue (free eco-coals). A magical hot tub steps away from your cabin. Badminton. Croquet. It's all swell!
The cabin is on five acres (along with our other cabins) in Little River - minutes away from everything - beaches, wineries, diving, hikes, Mendocino, breweries, good food.
If you stay on the weekend, and you can tear yourselves away from the cabin, stop into the lodge for happy hour: Fondue Fridays (typically, homemade gruyere fondue with apples, french bread, and mushrooms; pretzels and mendocino mustard; local beers and wines) and Sangria Saturdays (something like...homemade strawberry/peach sangria; local beers; chips and salsa; corn and chive blossom quesadillas; and sometimes even tamales!). Saturday and Sunday mornings we have toast bar in the lodge with locally baked breads, homemade apple butter, almond butter, olallieberry jam, coffee, tea and the New York Times.
If you're very lucky and you're here on a starry Saturday night, you won't want to miss our movies under the stars - a classic film projected on a sheet, plenty of blankets, popcorn, and (OF COURSE), the stars!
Plus, we think your pets are swell, so bring 'em along! We won "Beast of the Bay" for our unmatched pet amenities, like treats, space to play, special bedding, and have five acres of meadow and woods for playing. (Just $20 per pet per night.)
