Ironman Kona Stay

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful location to stay for the Ironman World Championships. Located only minutes from the expo and events center without having to deal with all the noise and commotion of actually staying at the host hotel. Not advertised was all the wonderful fresh fruit right out side your door. We were drinking fresh fruit drinks everyday. The only con that this place had was it could use a few more lights, especially in the kitchen area, and the kitchen area isn't very big but neither of those items would deter me from staying here again. Will be sure to book this place for my next Ironman race in Kona.

Cramped in Kona

  • 1 of 5

While the owner is nice enough and the property is cozy (ie. compact space) with a lovely backyard of plentiful fruit trees - our stay was challenging as the owner upstairs had multiple noisy parties late at night, and the kitchen is not really equipped for reasonable use - with a tiny sink, no cabinet space for food, no lighting and two electrical burners set up directly below a cabinet that would get drippy with the steam from cooking. There isn't a suitable kitchen table and when we ate outside on the table in the patio, the laundry vent above sent lint and exhaust on our eating table... Not exactly the most professional of an accommodation, unfortunately and we wouldn't highly recommend it - maybe it would work for a small party of ppl who eat out for their vacation.

kozy in kona

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful home and grounds! The rental was spotless and 'kozy' as described but plenty of room for our family of 4. Close to downtown Kona/Kailua and shopping ,grocery stores etc. View of the Pacific off the lanai.

We would return to rent here without a doubt. Fred the owner is such a welcoming host!

One thing to add would be an iron and ironing board for wrinkled travelling clothes =)

It is relaxing to go 'home' each night rather than to resort setting - it was exactly what we wanted for our vacation!!

100% recommendation and satisfaction!!!!

lin from Oregon

The apartment was perfect for me. It is near my son which was very convenient. I have stayed in different Ohanas off Lako, but this was closer to town which meant less time in the car and more time with my grandson. I had everything I needed and it was very quiet except for the wondrous birds. Beautiful, peaceful spot. Mahalo Nui!

Clean and comfortable. Lovely yard with lots of fruit trees. Owner replaced broken fridge promptly. Kitchen lighting could be improved (owner aware). Very convenient for access to town and shopping. Would definitely recommend.
