Hawks View is conveniently located off Hwy 226 between Spruce Pine and Bakersville, only a few miles from Penland School of Crafts and Mile Marker 331 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our luxury cabin is located in the heart of the Pisgah National Forest within 15 minutes of all your favorite mountain activities; gem mines, Grassy Creek and Crabtree waterfalls, downtown little Switzerland, the Orchard at Altapass, horse back riding, golfing, swimming, tubing and kayaking on the South Toe River, Dellinger Grist Mill and visiting dozens of artist studios and craft galleries surrounding the renowned Penland School of Crafts. Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain and the Appalachian Trail at Roan Mountain are all just 30 minutes away. Asheville, Johnson City TN and the High Country ski areas are within 1 hour drive.

One of the highlights of Hawks View is the breathtaking long range views of the Black Mountain range. During the summer months you can see Mount Celo, Mount Mitchell and the Unicoi mountain range. In the winter when the leaves drop, the view opens to a full 180 degrees from Mt. Mitchell to Roan Mountain. Enjoy your coffee in the morning overlooking the fog blanketed valley below, and your wine in the evenings watching spectacular mountain sunsets or cozy up to the wood stove with a good book and enjoy the sounds of rain on the tin roof. A ''Mountain Paradise in the Clouds', Hawks View is truly breathtaking and certainly one of the reasons that renters will return year after year to this unique mountain rental.

Hawks View offers true mountain privacy. Situated on a secluded, 4 acre tract of land with no adjacent homes and easy access off a paved road. Designed and built by an award winning architect and resident artist from Penland School, the house is a blend of both modern and traditional cabin style architecture with an artistic touch throughout. Handmade ceramic sinks by local artists and other unique elements of creativity are unexpected treats.

This home features 1400 SF of living space with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, loft, balcony plus 700 sq ft of covered porches with hemlock log columns and handcrafted stonework. Pine hardwood floors and ceilings thru out with vaulted ceilings in the living room and loft areas. The master bedroom upstairs has a queen bed, private bathroom and its own private deck. Also upstairs is the loft with a pullout futon and game table with games, puzzles and books supplied for guest use. The main floor has the guest bedroom with full bed, desk and bathroom and a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area adjacent to the living room with TV and cozy wood stove. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from both bedrooms and all living areas.

Unlike a lot of rental properties, Hawks View is fully furnished and fully equipped, as a turn-key second home for its owners. Expect all the comforts of home; 46' Flatscreen TV with DISH 240 channels, plus DVD collection, stereo system, fully equipped kitchen with convection oven, microwave, dishwasher, many small appliances (coffee grinder, rice cooker, blender, crock pot), gas BBQ grill, hammock, washer and dryer, detergents and soaps and wood for the wood stove are all supplied. Just show up with food and your clothes for a wonderful romantic weekend, family getaway or holiday with friends.

Come enjoy the serenity of Hawks View House, a Blue Ridge Mountain Rental that will have you feeling right at home, in addition to its incredible mountain views and amenities!

Romantic Private Escape to the Top of the World!

This is the third time we have stayed at this very special Romantic, Private, Retreat that seems to literally sit on Top of the World. We love it!!

The home is very well equipped and comfortably furnished. The views change by the minute! We enjoy just sitting, reading, and absorbing the beauty.

The location is remote and private but it is centrally located to all the pleasures of the area. Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Boone are all easy 1+ hour drives. Wonderful restaurants all around with a special one in Spruce Pine - Knife and Fork!! We always adventure and dine out during the day and stay in nights.

Since we are Seniors we do not take advantage of many of the physical activities available nor are we interested in Night Life but the Penland art School and the Cone Center are special places to visit.

To us Hawks View House is a destination vacation and is itself, the reason to go! Spruce Pine provides all the shopping needed and we can easily entertain ourselves for a week On Top of the World.

The owners are very accessible and responsive to any comment, suggestion or need.
They have a crew very close by to respond as needed.

Love at First View!

We stayed at the Hawks View House for two weeks in the Fall of 2013 and I would definitely recommend it! I can honestly say the photos do not do the view justice. The minute you drive up the drive way you’ll understand. It is simply breathtaking! The fall colors were in full swing when we arrived and by the time we left most of the leaves had fallen. The house is fully equipped with everything you will need for your stay. The only thing we couldn’t find was a pen to make our grocery list and I’m sure we just over looked it. The kitchen is stocked with everything you’ll need for cooking. The beds were super comfy and we slept great. If you get lucky and get the down stairs bedroom, you’ll have the luxury of getting to see the amazing view while still in bed every morning! But if you get the upstairs bedroom, you get your own balcony and the luxury of seeing millions of stars from your bedroom window before you close your eyes! So it’s a win with both rooms. There’s a futon in the loft and it too is comfy. This was our first time staying somewhere with a wood stove instead of a fireplace. It’s much more efficient in heating and super cool to stare at. The Stone’s have great step by step instructions on how to use it and it worked perfectly, so don’t be scared! Heat travels up so the loft was always toasty! Back to the view….and the porch! Rocking chairs, double swing, table with chairs and a hammock! You’ll never go inside unless it’s too cold and even then the huge window makes you feel like you’re still outside. There’s a neat little trail to get to the rocks down below. It starts in the back of the house where it appears that they chop the fire wood. Or of course you can take the harder way if you don’t realize that there actually is a trail….but I won’t spoil all the fun with an explanation. ;) The only recommendation I would make to anyone planning on staying here is arrive in the daytime. Mrs. Stone’s directions are spot on but it’s just easier to drive up a mountain during daylight hours to a place you’ve never been. I almost forgot! Wild animal sightings! We saw a family of wild turkeys, a total of five deer and our husbands saw coyotes at night! Don’t miss out on the chance to make some amazing memories at this place!

My husband and I just celebrated our 11th anniversary at Hawk's View and are already talking about re-booking!! The house is amazing and the view is unbelievable. We wish we could have stayed longer!! We stopped in Spruce Pine which had an incredible grocery store, stocked up and didn't leave the cabin other than to take nature walks during the day. It was so beautiful and so welcoming I couldn't imagine a more perfect place for a quiet getaway!

My family and I had a great time calling this home while we roamed the NC hills. The open layout of the home makes it great for sharing time with everyone. Absolutely the best mountain views!

We fell in love with Hawks View House… it was everything we hoped it would be and more. Whether sitting on the lower deck soaking in the beauty or on the balcony outside the master bedroom, the view was awesome, captivating. The house is wonderfully decorated with unusual pieces of art which kept me delightfully amused when I would see something new that I had not previously noticed. It was very comfortable, clean and well provisioned. We either grilled or cooked every meal and loved the convenience and ease of using the well-stocked kitchen. We found ourselves forsaking our electronics and listening to the crickets in the evening and the wind blow in the tree tops. Take care of Hawks View House… it is a treasure… a much needed sanctuary for those who feel the need to feed the soul. :)
