Thank you for taking the time to view our property. We would love the opportunity to provide you with a great vacation experience and look forward to speaking with you to answer all of your questions! We are excited to share that our property was recently chosen by the Andrew Harper travel company to be designated as a top tier luxury vacation property.

We are now booking Fall 2015! During the fall and other off-season months, the property is as an outstanding getaway, offering excellent privacy for couples and small groups to enjoy the "house only" while still having access to the entire property exterior . The use of the cottage may be added to your stay during some spring and fall weeks upon request. The cottage closes in November and opens in May.

In the summer, enjoy a spectacular private beach property offering the perfect combination of both a modern luxury beach house, and located just across the lawn, a quintessential Maine styled premium water's edge cottage. Our child and pet friendly property offers a private beach to swim and play on, outstanding views throughout, great amenities, including central air conditioning, stunning summer sunsets and beautiful outdoor spaces. The property is in very good proximity to a variety of shopping, dining and tourist attractions. It is ideally designed for families seeking a contemporary home with amenities and well appointed sleeping areas. The sleeping configuration can be ideal for some extended families traveling together seeking good privacy. The cottage provides one of the five bedroom accommodations, but also provides the perfect 'beach cabana' by offering a convenient second kitchen, bathroom and shower at the edge of the water. The private beach offers calmer and warmer shores that are perfect for swimming and playing. There are no 'drop offs' or rough surf to worry about. Our L.L. Bean kayaks and floating rafts are located directly on beach for easy use, and there is a fitness room located at the house. This rare property is on a sunset facing tidal bay (high-to-low tide) that has access to travel towards the open ocean, and is home to bald eagles and other important and protected birds and flora.

Bath is part of midcoast Maine & the Boothbay Harbor region. Tour nearby historic Bath, voted of the best small cities in America, shop, dine and 'hop on the trolley'. Visit Boothbay Harbor, Five Islands, Freeport Outlets and L.L. Bean, Cundy's Harbor, Wiscasset, Georgetown, Popham Beach, Camden, Portland & more! 56' great room TV/40' master TV, Internet, gas fireplace, on-site massage appointments may be booked depending upon availability. Other guest services depending upon availability may include professional nanny service, and hot lobster delivery. Dining recommendations and touring information provided.

We had a wonderful experience at property 233669 on Merrymeeting Bay, Maine. As travelers, it is important to us to feel at home at a rental property. After all, we are on vacation. We want to stay at a place that is comfortable and, to some extent, better than home. From the awesome architectural design of the house, the attention to detail in decorating, the landscaping, the view, the smell of balsam fir and the remote away-from-it-all experience (yet so close to many towns), you definitely are in for a treat. To be honest, my partner and I said several times “we could live here”. The pictures do not do this property justice. As of our stay in October 2014, all of the furniture in the common areas had been updated to comfortable leather couches.

The private beach area is great for both dogs and small children as it is a slow incline into the water during low tide and not rocky. We kayaked the bay (awesome!) and hiked the local conservation trails 100 ft or so from the property daily. We drove to both Rangeley State Park and Acadia State Park for some awesome hiking and biking with the dog. We had dinner at several of the restaurants that the owner had recommended (Mae’s for breakfast, Red’s Eats for lobster rolls, El Camino and Enoteca Athena for dinner) and were not let down. They were great recommendations. We visited many local attractions that were listed in the information packet provided by Ariane including Boothbay Harbor, Popham Beach, downtown Bath, downtown Brunswick and some awesome local breweries. Whether you are looking for a property for solitude, luxurious getaway, outdoorsy activities or proximity to nightlife, this property has it all. You can be as active in the outdoors as you wish, lounge on the chairs and take in the smell/view, or head into town for some great food and local microbrews.

We have rented from Homeaway on several occasions in the Adirondacks, Lake Anna, Smith Mountain Lake, Deep Creek Lake, Dolly Sods, Ashville, Poconos and in Europe. This is hands down the best property we have ever rented from Homeaway. And no, we do not know the owner personally. It was just that great of an experience. We definitely enjoyeed our stay!!

Beautiful House in World Class Location

  • 5 of 5

We spent two weeks in this beautiful home perched above its private beach on the east bank of Merrymeeting Bay. The views out front over the bay were splendid every day, even during a rain storm and the sunsets nothing short of spectacular. Out back was a substantial nature reserve on the doorstep managed by the City of Bath that afforded great walks with our dogs through mixed woodland over a variety of trails. We are grateful indeed to the owner who paid great attention to detail to ensure that our stay was of the highest quality in her immaculate house. Bath is a short 10 minute drive away and had everything that we could have wanted. Good restaurants and other eateries, clean well organized and stocked supermarkets, specialist fish merchants and butchers, farmers markets; they are all to hand in or near the town. As if that wasn’t enough, they have been building warships for the US Navy in the ‘Bath Iron Works’ for 400 years. We have been recommending this property to friends and colleagues ever since we got home from our wonderful holiday there.

The only home in Maine we will ever rent again!

  • 5 of 5

We hosted a brotherly reunion in Maine, 3 brothers with their families from the Pittsburgh and Allentown areas of Pennsylvania. We had all been to Maine on numerous trips, but never with our wives and children and never with the high demands of quality, location and space before. After an extensive search we settled in on this property and fortune favored us.

First, the house and the cottage were spotless, I scored particular brownie points with my wife on this point alone. We were all immediately comfortable in the setting. The location was amazing, from the private beach our children played at every day to the ease and quaintness of the town of Bath. There was a lobster monger within 5 minutes of the house that got a fresh shipment in every day. Being from PA, trust me, we ate lobtser EVERY DAY. The outside was simply relaxing, it was a daily debate, do we relax on the cottage deck which had a simply stunning view of the water, or the the yard between the houses with the view and comfort. The modern features of the house were again a big win, staying at a property for the first time has not always worked out for us, but in this case, the pictures were EXACTLY as the house is. Clean modern bathrooms, a great kitchen with all the necessary tools (especially the lobster pot to cook all those crustaceans!), TV for the kids, and more.

FInally, Ariane was wonderful to work with, could not have been nicer if she tried. Here is the best compliment I can offer this home. We have already booked out trip for next year...we can't wait!!!

First class vacation experience

  • 5 of 5

We spent a blissful week at this five star home on the water. BBQing while watching the sun set with 180 degree views of the bay are now great memories. We look forward to returning! The home is spacious, new and very well appointed. What made a big difference was how truly helpful the owners of this property are. They filled us in on all the right places to visit, activities to do and the great dining that is available in the area. This meant we were all set to satisfy 3 generations of family with zero guess work. We enjoyed walks on the beaches, swimming, kayaking, photography, fine dining, visiting quintessential Maine towns and farms, and of course relaxing at this lovely home.

Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful winter getaway in Bath, Maine! My wife and I, our two children (5, 3) and our mothers (54, 73) experienced the magic that is Bath in “true” Winter fashion. Shortly after we arrived and loaded up on groceries for the week we were hit with the first of two storms that would strike during our stay. In total, the two storms dropped close to 19 inches of snow on us. The home was nothing short of perfection. It was stocked full of cooking amenities, toiletries and a nice welcome basket complete with a chocolate moose. The owners recently installed a gas fireplace in the main living area, which was absolutely one of the best features of the home. The fireplace made for an especially warm and cozy environment. The view of the frozen bay and snow-covered trees was simply breath-taking. The home roads were plowed regularly and sufficiently enough (particularly for its remote location) for us to get out for our daily road trips to New Brunswick, Rockland and Camden (including a brisk hike up Mt. Battie.) If you can manage the hour drive, the shops in Camden and views atop Mt. Battie are some of the best in Mid-Coast Maine. Plenty of wonderful restaurants and shops in Bath as well as the aforementioned Towns. Bath is central to a lot of nearby destinations as well as secluded enough for getting away from it all. The only thing that could of made this trip any more wonderful would of been the spotting of a Moose … maybe next time! The home, the town, the surrounding areas and the owners, everything about this vacation rental was magical.

Amazing Get Away

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary, and you walk into a completely stunning home. Every corner of the home has been decorated beautifully it's definitely a more modern Lake house. The kitchen has everything that you can possibly imagine to use. Everything inside the home was easy to find and utilize. There is plenty of space for a large group, we were also able to bring our small dog who also had a great time there. The home is not located directly on the water but that is absolutely okay, since you have views of it throughout the home, and the home is at the end of a lot so even the walk down to the bay is relaxing and no more than a couple minutes. The owner was easily available for any questions that we may of had. It was a little under a 2.5 hour drive from Boston, and once there you can easily get to restaurants, supermarkets and shopping easily. We definitely plan to return it was a perfect get away and would highly recommend this home!

Owner's Response: We are located on a BAY with a PRIVATE TIDAL BEACH (high to low tide) NOT A LAKE . This lovely review is from a winter, off-season guest, but because of snow cover and the seasonal closure of our beach stairs/beach access we feel they did not get an accurate perspective of our location and of our private tidal beach (high to low tide) during the summer months. You can not stay at a property that is closer to or more of a waterfront property than ours' unless you were in the water itself:. We understand during the off-season, that it may be difficult to picture the property as it presents in the summer/good weather. We wanted to clarify that we are at the water's edge with an small elevation and comfortable stairs to the beach. It is seconds down the seasonal stairs to the private tidal beach. However, climbing around when the seasonal access is closed would take longer and be a bit awkward. We are not located near any lakes. Merrymeeting bay is in midcoast Maine and is where the ocean meets the rivers and the bay provides access to the open ocean. Our photos best explain what you will find during the good weather months, which is waterfront with expansive water's edges views. The beach is wonderful for kayaking, floating of rafts, swimming or just relaxing. We are more than happy to explain and discuss anything about the property or it's location with any prospective guests. We very much appreciated the guests that wrote this kind review and are thrilled they had such an enjoyable anniversary celebration at our property. We truly hope they will return!

We are minutes from downtown Historic Bath, voted 'one of the best small cities in America'. Bath, Maine is the gateway to midcoast Maine and offers good proximity to midcoast touring attractions such as Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset, Camden, and Pemaquid area. Close by visit Bailey's Island, Cundy's Harbor and enjoy lobster at Georgetown's Five Islands. We are close to Freeport shopping outlets the home of L.L. Bean and also offer good proximity to Portland attractions. Property is situated on Merrymeeting Bay in a highly unique westward facing position. You feel in middle of nowhere, but are only a few minutes from everything you could want or need. This is a very rare east coast opportunity to enjoy a private beach, staying on tidal water (high to low tide) and also enjoy stunning sunsets. The bay is highly protected and ecologically important providing a home to many special birds, fish and flora. American Bald Eagles make the bay their home. The duck migration in the fall is second only in North America to the much larger Chesapeake Bay. Come enjoy all our location has to offer!
