Bath is part of midcoast Maine & the Boothbay Harbor region & is the gateway to touring. Unique birding & flora. In the colder weather, snowshoe (we provide) or X-Ctry ski (you bring). Uniquely, you won't find our outstanding restaurants & excellent shops closed after Labor Day. Come experience our area with no need for reservations and long waits in the off-season. Depending upon your interest, a vacation on Merrymeeting Bay offers a great deal of interesting kayaking and fishing, as well as access to the ocean. However, it is an incredibly beautiful and relaxing location to casually explore nature, BBQ or just rest. Depending upon the tide, a large group of seals can be found basking in the sun and looking for a fish dinner only a very short boat ride away. It is an idyllic place to canoe and kayak (please bring your own or watercraft rental information can be provided). Bath, Maine is a small mid coast jewel of a city. An old seafaring town, Bath has sailed gracefully into the present day bringing a taste of her history with her. Nearby, Popham Beach and Reid State Park offer miles of sandy beach and rocky cliffs. Cultural treasures are plentiful at Bath’s Maine Maritime Museum. Near other mid coast attractions including Freeport outlet shopping and Portland attractions.

Perfect house and location

Awesome location with beautiful lake views set in a secluded wooded area only 5 miles from town. Property was immaculate and well appointed. The owner was very helpful with things to see and do as well as ideas about dinning. Would definitely stay here again. I would give it 5 stars.
Owner's Response: Prospective guests, the property is NOT located on or near any lakes. I believe this is just a typo from our very kind guest and refers to "beautiful views" of the bay. Property is located on a tidal bay (regular high tide to low tide) with access to the open ocean. Property is remotely located in historic Bath, which is part of midcoast Maine.

Your house is a GEM!!! It was so beautiful....and so quiet. Just what we needed. Thank you for everything. I can't believe the view...the windows are positioned perfectly to absorb every inch of that gorgeous view.

A little piece of serenity!

My husband and I just returned from a week’s stay at “By the Bay”. We had never rented a home before, so needless to say we were somewhat apprehensive. From the moment that we walked into the house, we felt a sense of peace and tranquility as the setting sun seemed to transform the ocean (and living room) into a sparkling sea of crimson. The home as well as its location was the perfect quiet getaway.

The property is beautifully decorated, extremely private, immaculately clean, and quiet and has amenities galore! The owners were extremely pleasant to work with. Everything was exactly as they said that it would be. It was a pleasure to walk into such a beautiful house located within a nature reserve and nestled between the forest and the bay. We hope to be able to return someday!

GREAT VIEWS from a Luxury Home

My husband, daughter and I stayed here for a week and fell in love with this home. The views are fantastic, the amenities are 5 star and the owners were a pleasure to work with. The kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable and the steam shower was great. Using the jacuzzi after a sunset stroll on the trails was a treat as you have a good view of the water. The home was clean, modern and efficient. The home is located in a nature preserve that makes it very private and peaceful. It is located 2.4 hours from Boston and well situated for jaunts to York, Portland, Camden and LL Bean shops! We scored. The few neighbors surrounding the home are friendly as are all the Maine locals. Some of the roads are not paved but are well maintained! We got there in a low convertible BMW but would recommend an all wheel drive or SUV particularly if you go during ski season. We loved our stay and will return again! We highly recommend this home. Thanks so much for all your suggestions on eateries and local sightseeing! Cash and Liz
