We fell in love with the peace and quiet, and the fishing is awesome.
Enjoy just laying in the hammock! No cars on the island. The only traffic is that of local golf carts.
Our trip to LGI is one we will be doing again!! Marine life, shell collecting, beautiful sunsets!! Owners were very helpful in answering questions on our stay. Loved being able to enjoy their little slice of heaven!! Best of both worlds being at the beach but yet feeling like your staying in the woods! Many great restaurants on other islands. Would definitely recommend Cabbage Key for lunch. Don Pedro island was a nice walk down the beach. Will be booking and recommending in the near future.
We made arrangements to rent with the owner, Sarah, and she was very nice, and answered any questions I had.
The house is located a short walk away from the boat dock (where you can dock your boat, or fish off the end of the dock) and a short walk to the fabulous beach, where we sat and relaxed during the day, and returned for the fabulous sunsets. Had a nice breeze all weekend, and our dog really enjoying diving into the surf! Nice sized kitchen, and there were 2 "sitting areas" - one to sit and watch TV (we watched a lot of college football) and another to sit and visit. Nice new large porch where you could also eat your meals.
The rental included a golf cart, so you could drive around the island, and use it to carry you luggage and groceries to the house. We also cooked out on the charcoal grill.
If you are looking for a nice, reasonbly-priced rental on beautiful Gasparilla Island, this is the one! Great for family, girls (or boys!) vacation. Thank you, Sarah and Tim, for sharing your home! Joan
We have stayed at this house multiple times, as well as other rental properties on the island. This house has always been an great place to stay, and we have had many good times. The addition of the front porch gives you the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee, or your afternoon read.My family has always found the house clean and with everything you need to enjoy your stay. We look forward to many more good beach trips and would recommend this place to everyone. Thank you! We had an awesome time while there this Labor Day weekend!
Upon arrival to the house I quickly realized that the house was NOT clean. It hadn't been clean in quite some time. I called Tim the owner regarding that and all he said was sorry. I was disappointed, but I wasn't going to let it ruin my weeks vacation that I had already paid for. I expected him to send someone to clean but no suck luck, someone was coming in the day we left and I left this house WAY cleaner than I got it that's for sure!
I spent 3 hours cleaning the house, the counters, the floors, the bathroom...everything needed a good wipe down. I am by no means a neat freak but there shouldn't be cob webs all over the place, dead bugs in several areas...I expect a place to have a clean floor and everything to have been wiped down at the very least. I washed all of the kitchen items before using them because they just looked gross, they have a mismatched set of dishes, cups, pots/pans etc which is fine...but they need a nice set of pots and pans (the teflon on all of the pans was all scratched off), the knife set was great! The home is older and it looks they are making some repairs, there was a lot of wood stored under the house which deterred us from using the hammock. They could use a new grill and for the underneath of the home to be picked up and little more people friendly. The deck upstairs is new and was wonderful. It came with a golf cart but not the one pictured (4 seater) it had a bed in the back which was great for transporting our things but not so great for 4 people to squish on and the golf cart wasn't in great shape but it got us from point A to point B. It was great to have Dish TV in all the rooms and AC kept us cool. It has an apt size washer/dryer which was great. Underneath the kitchen sink and bathroom sink was scary and needs a serious cleaning...I just closed the doors and pretended it wasn't there. Also, the house has a couple of places where it isn't sealed up (like you can see outside)...I don't do bugs and creatures so these huge areas where snakes, frogs or lizards could come in flipped me out (in the kitchen, the closet where the washer dryer was). This would be a great place for a guys weekend cause guys don't care but I wouldn't suggest it for a family vacation! We did have a great time on the island and enjoyed our time there but I won't be renting this home next year! We did alot of boating, using Gaparilla Marina and Eldred's and spent a ton of time on the beach!
What a great vacation! The house was as described, neat, clean, and comfortable. Tim quickly answered any questions I had. Be advised when it says "load up on groceries", that means just about everything. There is a variety of spices in the cupboard, but nothing is left in the frig (such as ketchup and mayo). And bring a jug of drinking water, too.
We had planned on going into Placida at least 3 times to go golfing. We went once, golfed, got the rest of the groceries we had forgotten, and never had the desire to leave the island again. My husband, who is a high energy kind of guy, thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the beach, or on the deck, and reading not one, but two books. The whole trip was soooooo relaxing. Everyone we met--neighbors, people on the beach and their dogs, Captain Willie-- was so friendly and just glad to be there.
We have recommended this house to others. We will be returning next year, hopefully for 2 weeks.
