Built in the early 1800's Rhone Retreat offers a glimpse of life in a quaint South France village, surrounded by vineyards, historical sites and activities. As you step inside our gates, the centuries old atmosphere envelopes you in the tranquil setting while you enjoy lush gardens and welcoming interior spaces which, although modernized, have preserved the historical ambiance of the home.
Fill your days with walks through the village or vineyards; drive to historic Palias des Papes in Avignon; medieval village of Uzes for the weekly market; Pont du Gard (Roman Aquaducts), St. Victor la Coste ruins; hike to Camp de Caesar or Oppiddum Saint Vincent (ruins of Caesar's spa); or relax by the pool and enjoy the gardens within our stone walls. The award winning Marjolet vineyard, family-owned for five generations, located directly across the street, offers an opportunity for you to meet the wine maker and visit the 'cave' for a wine tasting.
This unique property offers numerous shaded terraces, BBQ arbor with a fully equipped summer kitchen, private pool complete with hammock and chaise lounges, a massage studio and escape from the hustle and bustle of modern daily life.
Perfect for 2 to 20, Rhone Retreat is your destination for a romantic get-away, reunions, weddings, celebrations, parties or just a vacation. We invite you to stay for a long weekend, a week or a month. The retreat is your to discover!
We arrived trusting the internet to have provided accurate information, which it did and more. The location in Southwestern France was a major attraction but once there, we were reluctant to leave the haven that Ken, the owner has created. Mornings were spent going to the local markets, buying magnificent fresh produce and breads, coming back armed with bottles of local wines in our baskets, and then languidly enjoying it all for the rest of the day by the pool and in the glorious gardens of Rhone Retreat. We were a group of 6 who stayed in the Reece Cluse and Corner Cottages, both lovingly renovated by Ken and helpers. We each sampled a massage from our host in his studio with warm southern air blowing through the open windows -- a treat for sure. I feel some reluctance to share this gem as we plan to return again this year and want to keep it our private hideaway but our gratitude to Ken takes precedence.
