LAKEFRONT FAMILY VACATION HOME - ALL SPORTS LAKE

My family and one other family stayed here in July. Four adults and three kids. There was plenty of room for us all. It is nice having two living spaces. The house was very clean, especially the bathrooms and kitchen. The kitchen is very well stocked. The lake was quiet. Not much boat activity while we were there. So it was perfect for kayaking. We saw a lot of wildlife. A bald eagle ate breakfast in the tree right in front of the porch one morning.

We had a really great week. The house worked out perfectly for us. No problems at all. The owners are very nice and obviously take good care of their property. There were fans in every room which was very helpful as the weather was fairly warm. The fans brought in a nice breeze. It is a steep slope down to the water, but was not a problem for any of us. The patio down by the water is quite nice. We enjoyed several S'mores and spent most of the time down on the beach.

It is worth the drive to go to Meijer's to do grocery shopping! Don't even bother going to Durther's on Apple Avenue.

We stayed at this house in early June, 2012. Couldn’t have asked for better weather! Cool mornings and evenings so we could really enjoy a hot cup of coffee in the morning and a campfire in the evenings. We had 4 adults and two teenage girls stay and we agreed we had more than enough room and the best spot on the lake. It was very quiet, rarely saw any neighbors but instead saw tons of wildlife: Geese with their goslings would come up to the grass to feed in the evenings, LOTS of turtles sunning, swimming, or sitting at the bottom of the lake, a lone loon, a pair of bald eagles and an otter. We actually saw two turtles lay their eggs on the beach near the woodpile on different days. One was dug up, one was intact when we left, so whoever is renting in August, you may see some hatchings take place. We spent most of our time on the deck when at home and grilled out when eating in. We took full advantage of the kayaks to explore the cove right by the house and also the whole lake. (If you take the orange kayak, a towel behind your back makes it much more comfy!)
We brought our bicycles and Doug was kind enough to leave us info on the bike trails in the area along with writing his own directions and creating maps of some rides he and Deb do from the house. They were great! The most scenic trail is south of Montague.
The girls enjoyed the putt-putt in the area, Michigan Adventure Park, and lounging by the lake. Had no problems with the sand, did wear beach shoes as suggested. Never saw a thorn or burr. Worth a drive to go down to Grand Haven and Holland for some cute towns and nice walks along the lake.

We wanted for nothing, got a great breeze through the house by leaving the front and deck doors open. Enjoyed the books, jigsaw puzzles and games already there even though we had packed our own. Doug & Deb are great to rent from, no hassles.

We spent the Fourth of July week and had a lovely time! We shared the house with a few small families and it had plenty of space and activities for all. It accomodated all of us perfectly.
We had great weather, so we enjoyed grilling outside. There is plenty of seating outside on the porch for a large group. Also, the two kitchens inside were very convenient. The balcony upstairs was great for relaxing and enjoying the view. We also played board games out there after dinner.
The house was very clean, which is much appreciated. The beds are all comfortable and clean. The bedrooms all had dressers and plenty of closet space. Deb and Doug were a pleasure to work with and the accomodations showed that they have thought of everything we might need during our stay.
The lake was beautiful, very clean and shallow. My son did lots of fishing off of the dock and from the paddle boat. We used the kayaks too, great fun! We had a nice bonfire and enjoyed watching the beautiful sunset.
During our stay, we visited the beach at Grand Haven and Pere Marquette. We also drove up to Silver Lake twice and enjoyed the dunes there. Mac Woods does a great tour of the dunes, which was good for the whole family. Then my husband and our older son rented a dune buggy and took that out on their own.
The house is close to whatever you need, restaurants, highway, drug store, groceries, video store, etc. But it's still far enough away from it all to unwind quietly and relax by the lake. The neighbors are quiet, but very friendly.
The only down sides to this house is that there are some rocks and thorns in the sand by the beach, so young children need to wear water shoes and be careful while playing. Otherwise, it is perfect!
