This is a great location for a home base to tour Cape Breton Island. You can easily take in all the natural and historic attractions Cape Breton has to offer such as the Fortress of Louisbourg, the Cabot Trail, Rita's Tearoom, Fishing on the Margaree and Golfing at Dundee Resort.

Historic St. Peters, gateway to the Bras d'Or Lakes, founded in 1649. A picturesque village boardering on the Atlantic Ocean and the Bras d'Or Lakes. St. Peters boasts two museums, a canal connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the lakes, a marina and venus to showcase local musical talent. It is a 40 minute drive to the Dunde golf resort and another marina, both with great dining facilities. Take another direction and arrive at Rita MacNeil's tearoom and then the historic Fortres of Louisbourg.

What to see and do in St. Peters: For history buffs there are the Nicholas Dennis and the MacAskill Museums. Walking trails through the battery park have breathtaking views. The St. Peters trail (access near the canal) is 6 KM along St. Peters Bay. It is flat with opportunities for beach combing.

Dining & Entertainment: The village has two fine dining restaurants and two casual dining venues. They all have entertainment at times during the summer months. On Tuesday nights there is entertainment at the civic center in Port Hawkesbury, 30 minutes away.

The house: The house is comfortable and fully equipped. You can watch the sunrise over the lake. There are two single and one double ocean kayaks that are equipped with lifejackets, ropes and bailers. These should only be used by experienced kayakers. Quality linens and towels are provided.
