I runned a marketing company and sold it in 2007 now I am renewing houses in provence and rent the houseboat.
christine LEONARD purchased this house boat in 1998
when I found this houseboat, I sold it the day after the visit. It is unusual to find such a barge in this marvellous location.
it is another word, quiet even you are in the heart of paris. You can visit famous monuments, only by walking. Lay out with these types of view is also a real advantage.
When you climb on deck and see the Eiffel Tower each morning and night, you forgive the spiders and the frequent head-bumping. I'd read all the amazing reviews, and truly did love being here in many ways, but anyone above 5'10" will not be able to stand up inside, and anyone else will constantly bump their head getting into the rear bedroom, laundry crawl space, and up and down the entrance ladder. Despite clearing the deck of spiderwebs at least twice a day, my kids suffered frequent bites, and Carlos had no suggestions to help with that. I would highly recommend that they get a pest control company to spray. There is only one toilet, not in the master ensuite but in the main area, and its flushing capabilities are very sensitive (reminds you of being in an airplane or RV bathroom). Also, be aware that there is no nearby grocery store, so it's a very long walk to bring back any provisions, and having no real address to give taxi drivers is definitely confusing. It's a very unique property, and glad we tried it, but wouldn't return. Just had to give some warnings along with the glowing reviews here.
This was our 2nd stay on Risico. It is a wonderful base from which to explore Paris. The boat is extremely comfortable and modern. It accommodates 6 people with ease and we enjoyed sharing meals together there and relaxing after full days of Paris sightseeing to compare notes. The location at Place de la Concorde is perfect. We look forward to another opportunity to stay on Risico in the future
We chose the RISICO for its excellent location and large deck top outdoor space. We were not disappointed! We had a great view of Bastille Day fireworks and every day the Eiffel Tower put on an entertaining light show. Despite is small size the kitchen is well designed and very useful. We were able to take advantage of the specialty food shops on nearby Rue Cler and had several memorable meals on the water. Appliances, water and wifi all worked well although the AC unit struggled somewhat on two unusually hot days. Christine was great to work with and very responsive when we had a slight plumbing issue. We found photos / information in earlier reviews to be accurate and reliable - so read those carefully! Will definitely consider this when we return.
We were fortunate to enjoy a fabulous stay on this charming boat. We couldn't ask for anything better. It was absolutely MAGIC ! Conveniently located in the centre of the exquisite neighbourhood of Le Louvres museum and Le Jardin des Tuileries, the péniche Risico is the perfect place to stay in Paris. Tastefully decorated and very comfortable, it was a delight coming back at the end of the day to relax on the boat and enjoy diner on the terrace after exploring the exclusive Parisian sceneries. The host provide us with good infos and tips of the area & went way and beyond to make us feel at home. We are looking forward in coming back soon on this awesome péniche Risico ! Tea or coffee at the Petit Palais'garden is a "must", just a 2-minute walk from the boat.
The best kept secret in Paris ! We had a fantastic time on the péniche Risico. Awesome location in the middle of the best sites Paris has to offer, surrounded by beauty and art. Stunning views of the Seine, Eiffel Tower, Orsay museum, historic bridges and Grand Palais. Walking distances to all attractions, museums, nice neighboroughs, restaurants, services, food stores, delicious pastry shops and adjacent to metro stations, plus the bonus of a free parking spot by the péniche. However, no need for car in Paris. In addition to been very well equipped and nicely decorated, the Péniche is super comfy, clean, warm and very calm at night (felt like been in the countryside). We savoured all our evenings dining on the deck while admiring the views. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommended.
