Feel like you are in the middle of the Adirondacks yet shopping and attractions are only minutes away. This historic stone cabin is located along a dead end road. Surrounded by mountains and water it is very private. The cabin offers wonderful lake views. There is a screened in porch overlooking the lake, a wonderful place to start your day. Then go down the stairs to your private lake front and take a swim. The lake is great for swimming, fishing and boating. While the water off the dock is shallow with a sandy bottom it gets deeper so you can jump in off the end of the dock. After a lovely day at the lake, have diner on the outdoor patio and relax in front of the campfire. What a perfect day in the Adirondacks! Want to do something else tomorrow? Just check out the local chamber of commerce web site. There are amusement parks, outlet shopping, museums, malls, restaurants, hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding, etc. We are sure you will have a great time.

Location: Adirondacks < New York < USA

Feel like your miles away from everything in this secluded historic stone cabin but your really only minutes away from all kinds of activities. We are close to the bike path, near golf courses, close to amusement parks and mini golf, go carts and outlet shopping. To the south we are minutes from Saratoga where you can find the oldest flat track and a casino. To the north is beautiful Lake George 'the queen of lakes' and the gate way to the Adirondack park. There is so much to do a week is hardly enough time.

Glen Lake:

Glen Lake is approximately 3 miles long. The cabin is located in the deeper wider sections of the lake. There are two islands, the larger one has a lighthouse and cabin. There is a restaurant on the opposite side of the lake 'The Docksider'. The fishing is wonderful. There is a wetland, swamp area at the inflow of the lake which is full of wildlife and birds. The view from the cabin is of Prospect Mountain, French Mountain and the other mountains separating Glen Lake from Lake George. The water is comfortable and great for swimming and activities. Most of the homes along the lake are year round and it tends to be very quite during the week, especially during the day. It is truly a beautiful place to be.

The cabin:

The cabin was built during the 1930's. It is very lovely and surrounded by woods tucked into the side of the hill. The cabin is located on the same property as the owners home. The driveway is shared but the landscaping very nicely separates the two. You have your own private swimming area. It is wooded on either side of the swim area (no one has a beach or swim area right next to you). The view from the screened in porch is breath taking. You can see up the lake, the islands and the sunsets.

Absolutely Perfect Getaway!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the cabin for a weekend, and we did NOT want to leave, it certainly wasn't long enough! Stonehaven is romantic, private, and the perfect place to relax, but it is also close enough to entertainment, food and shopping! Lake George is less than a 10 minute drive. But with your own private dock on the lake, you never want to leave! We spent most of our time laying out and relaxing by the water. The Henslers are great, welcoming hosts, the cabin is just perfect! It is fully stocked with everything you need, and very neat, clean and comfortable! I can't say enough wonderful things about Stonehaven and I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking to get away. Thanks again for a wonderful vacation and we are looking forward to coming back soon!!!!!!

The Perfect Getaway

Our group stayed for a week and our only complaint is that one week was not enough. The Henslers are wonderful hosts and good people. The write up about the cabin and the lake is very accurate. The cozy cabin has everything you need, including spectacular views. The lake was very warm, clean and clear. We spent most of our days hanging out on the private dock and floating dock and swimming. During our week long stay we probably caught about a hundred fish (bass, trout, blue gils and catfish at night). The cabin is very private, but less than ten minutes from anything you could possibly need. The cabin is also very neat and organized. Every night we grilled out and then lit up the fire pit. The views are better than what the pictures show. Everywhere you look you see the mountains. Early mornings and sunsets are breathtaking. We were all so relaxed and enjoying ourselves, that we didn't use a computer and only used the T.V. to check the weather. I would recommend this place to everyone. Thanks again to the Hensler family for a wonderful vacation.

What a beautiful place

We were amazed by the beauty of the view from this house. What a wonderful setting. We will definitely go back to recharge our batteries. It takes you away from all the hustle and bustle. If you do want some entertainement... Lake George is just a stone through away and Six Flags Great Adventure is right next door. We enjoy swimming a lot and this place is perfect for that. We brought our 6 month old as well us our cat. It is safe for both of them. The cat spent hours in the screened in porch and there are child safety gates on top of the stairs, which makes for a perfect environment for when we go back and our little one is walking.
We thank our hosts for a wonderful and relaxing stay ;-)

The perfect getaway

This hidden treasure allows you to have a true vacation in a breathtaking setting. Imagine waking up and having your coffee on the screened-in porch overlooking the crystal clear lake. Whether you are
inside this cozy cabin or outside enjoying the lake, you will feel relaxed. The cabin itself is beautiful and has everything you need. If you want to venture out, Lake George and Glens Falls are just minutes away and Saratoga is just a bit more of a ride. The owners couldn't be any more accomodating and welcoming. I would recommend this rental without hesitiation to anyone interested in having a wonderful vacation in a comfortable, clean and beautiful setting!

The best of Glen Lake!

This is a wonderful place to get away from it all, yet be close to everything! The cabin is very private, and has a wonderful view of Glen Lake, complete with dock access. It has a beautiful screened-in porch overlooking the lake, which was great for meals or relaxing anytime. It's nicely furnished and comfortable, even for extended stays. We brought our dog and cat along and they were welcomed without a fuss. The owners are great people who bent over backward to make sure we were comfortable. I really enjoyed the fact that it is private and wooded - you can't see the neighbors, even from the porch. Shopping and restaurants are 5-10 minutes away in Queensbury, Lake George is only 15 minutes away, and it is easy to get around the area. Glen Lake is a hidden treasure, with very swimmable water (it's gets warmer way before Lake George!), and boating access (both motorized and non-). I'd love to spend another summer vacation on Glen Lake!
