Worst Apartment Ever!!

Muey Germany
Review Submitted: January 25, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2009
I would not recommend this apartment to my worst enemy.

It was not the apartment that we had booked and is still misrepresented on the website, as the photos on the website are for an apartment further from the city. It was dirty and the bed looked like it had not had a change of sheets. There was no proper kitchen as in the photos, just a sink and stove in the corner, with no counter space at all so that we had to put the toaster on top of the fridge. There was no kettle and so we had to boil water in a saucepan. We asked for tea-towels and the agent brought us a roll of paper towelling. The bathroom was old, mouldy and filthy and the sofa/lounge was falling apart. The apartment was so dark and very noisy, as there was a dog in the apartment block that barked all night.

It was such a disappointment but we knew that we couldn't start looking elsewhere for accommodation and we had already paid half the week's rent. Finally they agreed to take $100 off the price for the week. Looking back now we should have left and found somewhere else as we found out later that there were bedbugs. My friend suffered with bites during that week and for many weeks after leaving NY. I would never recommend this apartment, or this owner.

Keep looking, there are definitely better apartments than this !!!

Our first contact was with someone who couldnt understand us, It took quite a few phone calls before someone actually met us, then it was downhill all the way.
First of all the smell in the close was unbelievable, which we got an apology for we couldnt believe that , then when we walked into the appartment it was disgusting, it wasnt even the one we requested, it was on the ground floor and we wanted one on the second floor, also the appartment wasn't ready for us, we do know pictures are different but this was bad, bed was not even made. Its as if we were not expected and it was a last minute decision to put us in there. We walked out immediately, sat in Starbucks for more than 2hours trying to find somewhere else, when I eventually contacted the owner, who should have contacted us right away, but didnt. We were eventually put up in another appartment which was lovely. I dont think I would recommend this to anyone .

New York wannabe Altamonte Springs

Stay as far away from this place as possible. It all looks very neat and updated in the ad, however, the room is grossly misrepresented. The room had the same furniture as in the picture but that was the ONLY thing that was accurate.
First, we arrive in NYC by plane and attemp to call, answering machine only. No answer and no return phone call for hours. We wandered around Central Park while waiting for a return call not knowing if we had a place to stay or not. When we finally heard from the owner and arrangements were made for check in, he did not meet us, but was met by someone who didn't even speak English.
We had to pay in cash, which was also a big mistake. When I insisted on a receipt, he gestured that he would have to go get one and did not return for over an hour with a piece of scrap paper with the amount and someones signature on it.
The room was dirty, and outdated. The hallway leading from the front door to the room looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the 1970's. People were arguing in the hallway at 3:00 in the morning and it wasn't a pretty conversation.
My husband and I decided to check out and get a room at a hotel. We had been trying to contact the owner since the night we checked in. Two days later he finally called us back. I am glad we didn't need anything emergent. When I told him we wanted to check out, and wanted a refund for the nights we had paid for in advance, he said that that wasn't possible. I had to read him the rental policy agreement stating check out with refund was possible with 72 hours notice. We stayed for the required three nights, and had never been so glad to leave anywhere before.
The refund was not available on checkout, but was told we would have it in a week or so. We received the check in the mail, three and a half weeks after we got home and it was not a full refund. The withheld one nights rent.
In short, it was the worst experience I have ever had in NY, and my husband and I travel here often, and have rented in several different establishments. I would actually rate this a zero if that were an option. It was HORRIBLE.

Awesome location

Walking distance to everything - excellent restaurants, coffee shops (Starbucks across the street), shops, Central Park, theatres, Times Square....Nassim was excellent to deal with and very prompt in responding to any questions and concerns we had.

The one issue we had is the unit was not as nice as portrayed on line and could have been alot cleaner. Other than that it was great and I would consider staying again.

my friend and i visited New York City for the first time, we both have young kids (10 years), and they were very excited about this visit as well. planning all to details was not easy for us, but we can gladly say that we did a great job, choosing the right apartment, at the right location with the right ameneties, was absolutely smart of us.
we enjoyed every second being together at this beautiful apartment, and we had no problems during our stay, the place was accurately described by the owner, and we felf secured and safe money wise.
thank you for making my trip to a successful one.
