Secluded 1930's Nantucket cottage located off of dirt road on 1.5 acres, with distant westerly ocean views from large ground floor deck out to Madaket Harbor, looking over conservation land to west and south. Sweeping unobstructed views allow visitors to view the entire west end of the island, stretching from Smith Point to Eel Point. Unusual opportunity to enjoy sunset views over the water on the East Coast! Outdoor deck includes lounging chairs and a outdoor dining table for six. Only one other house is in close proximity.
Location is on Warrens Landing Rd., after it intersects with Eel Point Rd., adjoining area of estate homes (realtors usually designate location of house as 'Dionis', but locals say 'Madaket'). Wonderful walking area with walking access to Madaket Harbor and Dionis beach, and short drive (less than 5 minutes) to Madaket and Madaket beaches.
House is simple, but furnished well as a summer house, with lots of books and comfortable furniture, as well as 1930's woodwork and charm. We have repeat renters who have returned each year over a 10 year period.
The cottage includes a downstairs master with queen size bed and its own bath, and a small separate downstairs bedroom with a single bed and a separate bath off the kitchen. Upstairs is a large bedroom with two single beds, with spectacular sweeping views out to Madaket Harbor, Smith Point and Eel Point. There is an adjoining area with lower ceilings off of the upstairs bedroom suitable for two children, which has two single beds. Upstairs bedroom and adjoining bunk area use the second downstairs bath.
The cottage works well for four adults (2 couples) and up to three additional children. It is not generally suitable for six adults.
The cottage includes an inviting living room with a wood burning fireplace, a separate dining area, and a large eat in kitchen. House includes a good music system, but no TV (we have a small TV that can be used to play VCR tapes). Wi-Fi (wireless) Internet Access provided. Well behaved pets (no cats please, due to allergies) are welcome with an additional deposit. Charm and character keynote this place.
