Michigan City Vacation Rental house

Our family has been fortunate to rent a number of vacation homes over the years, but we've never before stayed in one as well-appointed as The Captain! The main level has an open floor plan that includes a great room/hang out area, dining area, powder room, laundry closet and a beautiful kitchen with a new grill conveniently located just outside of the back door. The kitchen, with its dazzling granite counter tops was thoroughly stocked with a variety of cookware, tools and utensils. Every need was anticipated -- abundant towels, a stereo system with an iPod connection, an attractive TV with cable and very reliable high speed Internet. We all enjoyed the front porch with the swing at one end and the table at the other, where we ate several meals. We also enjoyed the privacy of the balcony porch with the rockers. (I sat in those rockers and read 3 books while we were there!) We loved the location of the house, away from the main street in Beachwalk and at the end of the cul-de-sac.

The beach at Lake Michigan is about a 7 minute leisurely stroll -- it's clean and well maintained. Peaceful and awe-inspiring sunsets.

Our 21- and 23-yr old sons got a kick out of doing the grocery shopping at Al's Supermarket. On more than one occasion when they couldn't find something, another customer went out of their way to help them find the item. My husband also thought Al's had a fantastic wine selection with good prices!

A nearby pizza place that shouldn't be missed is Stop 50 Wood Fired Pizzeria (a religious experience and normally I'm not the biggest pizza fan). We also enjoyed Brewster's Italian Cafe in New Buffalo, MI.

We had a wonderful vacation at The Captain and I hope we get to go there again!
