More About the Property: The Edge is built as close to the Pacific Ocean as allowed under Costa Rica's strict environmental laws: 50 meters from the high tide mark. From the Main Villa atop a cliff, you will find jaw-dropping unobstructed 180 degree Pacific Ocean views. The Villa's twelve acres are sandwiched between protected green zones to the north and south with a dramatic backdrop of first ridge mountains and a combination of primary and secondary rain forest. It's a unique setting that delivers the scenic beauty and wildlife you expect from Costa Rica. Geographically, we are located in Costa Rica's more tropical and much less developed Southern Zone, making this an ideal place to experience the country's natural splendor. Despite its privacy and tranquility, The Edge is just a minute from the Coastal Highway and a few minutes from downtown Dominical and its amenities.
Within a short walk from The Edge there is a path where you can reach two private beaches, one with its own waterfall. For swimming and boogie boarding or surfing we recommend a two minute drive to Puerto Nuevo, a virtually private beach. Two boogie boards are on the house!
The Main Villa is comprised of a Master Suite with a California King bed and a Junior Suite with a king bed, each with its own full bath as well as a futon style bed for an additional guest or two small children. There is also a half bath off the Great Room. Bedrooms are air conditioned, common areas are not.
With recent upgrades, Internet service in the house is great for those who need to stay connected to family, friends, and/or businesses during their stay. It's also fun to share wildlife photos in real time because most people are amazed by the Edge's opportunity for daily nature encounters.
The property overall has benefited tremendously from a continuous capital improvement program started in 2010. The program has completed numerous upgrades to the villas, including new roof, new electrical lines, new water lines, fresh paint, new lighting fixtures, new master shower, upgraded Internet service, new TV, and much more. This program will continue during 2012 with construction occurring when the villas are vacant.
Guest Cottage: In The Guest Cottage there is a Queen Suite, with a full private tiled bath and a private furnished deck with yet another lovely ocean view. All this less than a stones throw from the Main Villa. Bedroom is air conditioned.
The Edge is very close to a variety of restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, banking and any other services you may need. There is a doctor, a pharmacist and dentist located right in Dominical, all speak English.
Your stay at The Edge will be a once in a lifetime experience, unless, of course, you return next year!
About your on-site hosts: Karen & Doug Evans:
Doug is a fourth generation Montanan; born, raised, and educated in Montana.
He served n the US Army Special Forces 1965-1969 stateside and Vietnam . Seven awards and citations including the Bronze Star. Doug earned his MBA in 1972; then owned and operated commercial building construction business in Kennebunkport Maine for 22 years. He then moved back West to Washington and Montana; raised cattle, horses and American bison (buffalo), 1994 to the present.
Karen was born, raised and educated in Santa Barbara, California. She has been involved in the culinary industry for many years. Her speciality is working in the film industry as a Chef as well as a Food Stylist for the movies. In addition to operating the Bison ranch, Karen also owns and operates Tulips, providing personal chef services,catering, and in home culinary classes.
