Tamarindo Vacation Rental house

Casa Wendt is a beautiful house with a few quirks. The pool is amazing, and probably the best feature since it's HOT in Tamarindo! We probably spent just as much time in the pool at Casa Wendt as we did in the ocean. But, the master bedroom was hot (property management said the AC isn't powerful enough to cool such a large room) and one of the other bedrooms had a strong odor of mold. One shower head was clogged and the water only trickled out. The gas grill was out of gas, and the gate opener was so weak that I had to get about 10 inches from the receiver to get it to open. But honestly, the house was pretty great for a large group – there was plenty of space, and the furnishings were very nice. The kitchen had all the utensils, pots and pans necessary to cook a nice dinner – there were plenty of plates, wine glasses, the works. And it was nice to have a refrigerator, safe, washer and drier. (NOTE: All linens, including beach towels, were provided. There was also soap, but no shampoo or conditioner.) The house is very close, about a 3 minute walk, to the Langosta Grocery Store, and also to an RPM office. But, I think it would be good to have a rental car at this property.

The down side is that the house was far enough from town (a 25-minute walk via the beach) that we racked up some taxi cab fees ($5 each way) and had to wait for a cab to come when we wanted to go into town. The beach near the actual house is rocky, so you really need to go at least into town to get to a good swimming beach. Finally, I don’t know if it was just a bad weekend, but the staff members for RPM were pretty apathetic and, a few times, rude. When I asked one of them her favorite restaurant, she just said, “Didn’t we give you the list?” There was absolutely no feeling of friendliness – the staff members acted irritated that we were bothering them. They ultimately did help us when we needed it, but it was mostly due to our own persistence. I did appreciate, however, that they gave us a late checkout when our transport couldn’t come at 10 a.m.
