Just like home.

I was attending a conference in DC for the week and although I grew up in the region, I wasn't familiar with the H street corridor and Capital Hill generally. SO MUCH HAS CHANGED! The apartment was clean and well appointed, the owner met me personally when I arrived and gave me a tour and described the areas amenities to me. There was coffee in the freezer (essential!) and a coffee maker as well as a washer dryer combo to do laundry. If I had wanted I could have cooked as well. I really enjoyed my stay and the amenties were fantastic.

K Street Studio - LOVED IT!!

  • 5 of 5
Work brought my husband to D.C. but the person booking their lodgings waited too long to make reservations closer to their venue. The rest of the large group (over 45 people) were shuttled back and forth from Tysons Corner, Virginia, to Fort McNair, D.C. My husband, upon hearing where they were booked, said we, along with 2 others, would look for some place closer to Fort McNair on our own. We didn't find this out till May 1st!

Found "K Street Studio" & thankfully they had availability. What a gem!! I arrived May 5, shortly after 3pm & met Cindi & Dee-Dee (the dog). Big woof; big softie! Such a friendly welcoming committee. Cindi quickly walked me through as I had to leave and pick up my husband at 4 pm. She helped bring in our bags & some grocery items.

Easy parking within the neighborhood, too. Cindi provides an on-street parking pass, good for 1 vehicle for the duration of your stay.

Took the D8 bus the first day to Union Station, a 6-min ride. Decided to walk it the next. 20 mins 1-way at an easy pace; down to 15 mins by the time I left.

The studio was wonderful! So comfortable, welcoming & relaxing with so many amenities/extras compared to a standard hotel room. The clothes dryer came in handy as it rained on the 5th and our jeans/trousers were very damp on our way back from dinner.

The bed was very comfortable; the bed's curtain is dark brown - ideal for sleeping. (The pics online show white curtains). It was like being in a cocoon. Husband had to be at work early so drawing the curtains as he got ready was ideal.

May 8th was hot and sunny. The washer & dryer both came in handy that day! I asked Cindi if it were OK if friends dropped over - and she immediately offered to put out the patio table, umbrella and chairs!

There are paperback books, DVDs, tour books/maps, bus schedules; kitchen has plastic wrap & tin foil, ziplock bags, all the kitchen utensils you'd need for easy food prep, bakeware, pots/pans, toaster, microwave, a wonderful gas stove... and more. Even a vase - as Cindi pointed out the irises in the backyard were ready to bloom and to cut a bouquet to bring in.

Would we stay here again? In a heartbeat! The neighborhood is eclectic... and 'H St' is 2 blocks south with all kinds of restaurants. We parked on 'I' street, one block south (there is no 'J' street). Really enjoyed K Street Studio and am looking forward to returning soon.

This was my first experience renting from a homeowner, but it won't be my last. Scott and Cindi were great hosts. My plane was late arriving and there was a message from on my cell phone from Scott to be sure everything was okay. The apt. is neat as a pin and really clean. The bed was fabulous! It was a wonderful place to unwind after a busy day. It was even better than the description. I could see that a great deal of thought had gone into the space, making it both efficient and homey. There is a booklet filled with directions on the operation of all the appliances and great tips concerning the area. H Street is only a few blocks away and filled with great restaurants. And the bus stops right in front of the house, so getting around without a car is easy. I would highly recommend this small apartment - and my family woiuld tell you I'm picky!

great little studio

  • 5 of 5
This location was awesome! Nice decor, helpful owner co-located with the property, and directly next to public transportation. Quiet neighbourhood at night, bustling by day. The neighborhood is up and coming with a short walk to lots of great restauraunts. Great for adventurous families willing to step off the beaten path. Not your average cookie-cutter hotel!

Perfect stay in Washington

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at K Street Studio for nearly a week at the end of March. It was the perfect place to base ourselves at while visiting Washington DC. The most pleasant thing is how quiet and peaceful the studio is after a day sightseeing. It is literally 50 steps from the bus stop, but as we closed the front door we left the hustle and bustle of the big city outside! It is very well laid out and has all the amenities that one would need while staying in town. The owners are very helpful with transport tips and bus information. It is about a 10 minute bus ride to Union Station and the metro and from there you can go all over town. We found the neighbourhood interesting with old houses being renovated. Grocery stores and restaurants are nearby. We would stay there again when visiting DC.

My stay at Studio K

  • 5 of 5
I stayed at Studio K for 11 days. I had meetings at Gallaudet Universisty. The location was excellent. i walked about a mile to Union Station and from there you could take any tour bus thorughout the city. you could get to Old Town by car fairly easy. Tour Maryland sites as well. Loved the studio and the owners. it was perfect for me and i do recommend it to others. a few restaurants and grocery stores fairly close by! Parking was pretty accessible. apartment was a jewel! doesnt accomodate a large group but cozy for two or three!
