'The Bluff House' is a very private turn of the century informal cottage located down a private country lane directly on the water overlooking Pleasant Bay, Nauset Beach, and the Ocean beyond. An ideal family retreat with ping pong, croquet, pier, swimming, boat mooring, and nearby golf. All bedrooms have water views and the large patio and yard offer unending summer fun. A great house for informal entertaining or escaping the real world. A home where time stands still and days float by. A short drive to town, restaurants, golf, theaters, and shopping with all the privacy of a bygone era. Fishing off the pier or chartering a boat for your stay allows the descriminating few a chance to relax only 1.75 hours from Boston.

With the warmer bay water swimming off the pier or at the beach is warmer than other area's of the outer Cape. The bass fishing is outstanding and the privacy is almost impossible to duplicate within the Chatham area. Golf and the town are within 3 miles. With everything that Nantucket has for a fraction of the cost.

  • The bathrooms are cottage style and have been updated with appliances in keeping with the era of the house. They have been recently renovated and offer a clean and comfortable feel. The outdoor shower is in an enclosed area behind the Laundry room and has a towel drying area and benefits from ample sunshine.

  • New mattresses in most bedrooms 2007, great views, informal, worry free, wood panelling throughout the house. The master bedroom has wonderful cross ventilation and is located to view the new Chatham Break and Nauset Beach as well as watching sun up or the full moon over the ocean. Bedroom 2 allows you to lie in bed and watch the tail swirls of the bass and bluefish as the day begins. The master bedroom has AC and each room has a floor mounted fan if, in the rare instance, the Bluff doesn't catch the prevailing wind and keep the house very comfortable. The updated bathroom is located off the central hall at the top of the main stairway.

Who best fits the house: This is a charming house for those people who want to be near it all yet able to step back to a quieter family oriented environment. This is a great beach house with the comfort that can only be found in old estate area's where property has not changed hands in 4 generations. Everything is well preserved, updated, and clean. But most importantly family's can relax and enjoy the best location on Cape Cod. The dock goes with the house and is shared by 2 family members who have houses nearby. There is a boathouse on the beach that is not included in the rental price at this time. If you are looking for a very comforatble house with unbeatable views and a location that cannot be duplicated you will not be disappointed. Walk down the path/stairs to the beach for easy access.

air conditioning: I am in the business of providing AC and have never needed it at the Bluff House. The AC that exists is a window unit in the master bedroom. There are ample fans, cross ventilation, and the evening ocean air to keep the house cool and comfortable.

games: there is croquet, ping pong that is set up in the cleaned out garage, numerous board games, puzzles, and a small library.
