The house was even better than the description--very clean, beautifully lit, bigger than it looks. All the details were taken care of, from the welcoming and instructional letter we found when we first walked in, to the abundance of linens and cookware and dinnerware. The setting was superbly quiet and serene, and the small dock was perfectly adequate for launching the canoe/kayaks. The lake is very shallow there, so there's no swimming from the dock, but we swam at a pleasant little public beach across the lake, easily accessible by boat or car. We also swam at the Lenox Beach on US 20 (10-15 minute drive), which is a little more spacious. Either location would be excellent for small children. Our immediate neighbors were either very quiet or not home. In any event, we enjoyed the almost 100% visual privacy. Excellent location less than a quarter mile off the main road, yet easy access to good restaurants and shopping and groceries in Lenox (about 10 minutes) or Great Barrington (about 20 minutes). I can't say enough about how user-friendly the property owners were, and we enjoyed meeting them in person as we bicycled by their house nearby. All in all, this rental was an excellent value. We spent a wonderful week here, and look forward to the opportunity to return.
