About Amy Quincey or Jayda Spires

First off, I am not Amy or Jayda. Amy is the property manager, and Jayda is the assistant property manager. I am the home owner. My name is Glenn. I grew up in Baytown and have always enjoyed camping, fishing, and just in general being outdoors. I work for GE in the Water & Process Division. I love the water and could not wait to build my home on the lake where I currently live, but I have always had a very special attraction to Galveston. I believe it is primarily due to the variety of wildlife in and around the water along with the ever changing conditions of the beach. I used to take kids and adults on educational beach tours and show them the delicate ecosystems. With some people who don’t have a good appreciation of the changing conditions of the beach they may look at the Sargasso which occasionally washes up on the beach and think “how nasty”. What they don’t understand is the amazing diversity of life that exists in this floating seaweed. If you catch it before the surf, you can find pipe fish, file fish, seahorses, Sargasso fish, lobsters and many other creatures living in it. If you’re a fisherman, try fishing under the Sargasso for mahi mahi.

Why Amy Quincey or Jayda Spires chose Galveston

This area appealed to me due to the wide clean beaches and great fishing. The clarity of the water is also much better than other beaches in Galveston. I grew up fishing around the San Louis Pass area and have always noticed that the water closer to San Louis Pass appeared to be much clearer. Many times driving to the Pass I would get to the Sea Wall where the water looked muddy, but in front of my house the water was clear. We also appreciate the quiet restfulness in the mornings and evenings sitting on the porch swing away from the crowded beaches and noise. When I first started looking for a house in Galveston, I considered buying on the bay side or at least further from the surf which would have been much less expensive and lower maintenance. I am so glad that I didn't do that. It would be like having an ice cream cone just out of reach.

What makes this house unique

As my daughters grew up, we spent most weekends at the beach house kite bugging. If you don’t know what this is, you fly a large kite which pulls a three wheel buggy up and down the beach. Due to the quality and size of the beach, this beach and far East beach were the only beaches that were wide enough to consistently use to kite buggy. It has also been great to be so close to the Pass because now we will spend the days fishing, go back home for a bit, and then back down to the Pass for floundering at night.

Peaceful Retreat

Had an absolutely wonderful time at this house. Property and house was clean and very well maintained when we got here. Owner provides nice little ammenities (coffee, creamer, sugar, hats, grill, towels, loads of movies and games, etc.) Everything was just as described on the website. The neighborhood was nice and quiet and felt like a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle along the seawall. Woke up every morning and had coffee and breakfast out on the swing on the porch and had a beautiful view. The beach is literally just steps away and was very clean (not a lot of seaweed). Would definitely recommend this house. We had an AWESOME rental experience and a relaxing vacation.
Can't wait to go back next summer!!!

Wonderful Get Away

Sister n law found this quite lovely house for our Memorial Day Getaway and we were all blown away with appearance and how close to the beach it was. Everything in the house was so lovely, it was all set up so nicely, we had everything at our fingertips, towels, dishes, etc.. The Property was very maintain, house was clean and i loved just waking up drinking my coffee while sitting on the upper deck swing. We will definitely come back. I will also be recommending this proper to good people to come and relax and enjoy..Thank You So Much..

Just Needed To Get Away -

This Houston winter has seemingly had no end & our family of 7 needed a reminder that it would not last forever - So we headed South...(along with another cold front & cold rain) But we didn't care -
We were at the beach!... & this home was perfect - inspire of the weather, it was open & bright, with beautiful views & well stocked with movies, games & puzzles!

Awesome Vacation Home

We rented this house for a girls getaway. It was perfect. The property is water front and the beach and water at this end of the island is remarkably cleaner than Galveston. The property was extremely well maintained. All the bedrooms were spotless and comfortable and had their own facilities. There was a good selection of movies in case of rain. The kitchen was large and well stocked. They also had a large grill downstairs for cooking out. The best perks of the property were the large porch up stairs with a swing (great for relaxing in the evening), the heated outdoor shower downstairs (great for washing sand off), and the excellent price. I would highly recommend this property to anyone that is looking for a relaxing beach vacation.

Chintzy!!

Beach house was ok but for the price but with a deposit I find it unnecessary to charge 5 bucks for a plastic beach chair. I wouldn't risk my deposit over a beach chair. Oh yeah forget about hanging up your clothes, the closets are all locked! The cable channels very limited. The deck had splinters everywhere you walked so don't even think about going barefooted. The upstairs jack and jill bathroom is very small and out dated. The windows wont stay open. The futon couches shown in the pictures are uncomfortable. There was a message chair in the living room but didn't work.I guess it serves as a lazyboy? Overall the house is in need of upgrades and repairs. I had to oil the hinges on the deck door it was so loud it woke up everyone in the house. Maybe I should have charged for oiling the creaky door hinge the way I was charged for "excessive cleaning" for a little spot of makeup on the bedspread....No class!! I will have to say the beach was very nice and well accessible.

Owner's Response: I’m very sorry that the house did not meet this renter’s expectations. I work very hard to make the house welcoming & help renters in any way I can to make their stay more comfortable. I was not aware of any complaints; in fact, received this- -copied directly from his wife’s email - -“Hi Amy, we really enjoyed the house and the beach even though it was a little cool!…” a couple of days after they left.
It appears there was miscommunication between the two parties, husband and wife, that I spoke with in setting up the rental which led to a misunderstanding about our pet policy. The policy is stated on our website & was clearly explained on the phone last minute when she asked to bring pets. The information was not passed on to him, but he paid the deposit and so became upset when the deposit was returned minus the pet fee. They were also charged $10, not for a “little spot” but 12-15 smudges of makeup that were rubbed into the comforter. It was treated & cleaned twice to get the stains out. I thought $10 was very fair for the cleaning products & time I spent on this. (I’m happy to send pictures of this comforter the way we found it to anyone who may be curious as to what I might charge for).
If you are considering renting from me, please know that I care very much about this house. It is well maintained by the owner, and I take care of it myself so that it has a more personal feel. I want all of my renters to enjoy it & to return, so I go out of my way to ensure the house is well stocked, and I am very fair when working w/renters. I’ve rented in Galveston. for years while my kids were growing up & this is by far the best place I’ve stayed. I’ve put as much info as possible on our website & tried to portray accurately every room in the pics. I am available by phone & email during your stay if you have any problems or concerns. I’ll let the rest of my reviews speak for themselves & hope that this one doesn’t influence your decision to rent from me. 2 things I do want to address: (1) Outside wood decks can splinter, especially near the beach. They can also get hot in the sun. I do recommend shoes outside. (2) The owner does use his home often & stores his belongings in the locked closets. The 2 downstairs bedroom closets are open & available for use.

Great choice in galveston

My sister and I rented this condo as a place to celebrate our father's 70th birthday. All together we had 2 seniors, 3 adults, and 3 kids and we had plenty of room. As soon as we walked in we so impressed: as others have mentioned - the pictures aren't near as impressive as the actual house. The kitchen was a great size and you can hardly beat the proximity to the beach. The house has a great view of the beach and the two porch swings are the perfect places to sit and listen to the waves and let the wind blow through your hair. We're already talking about making this an annual fall retreat location.

The newer house next door does cut down a bit on the view, but only from the side windows, otherwise it's perfect sight lines straight to the water.
