That’s ONE minute by car, TEN minutes by foot, or 90 minutes by toob or raft to the heart of Gruene and all it has to offer any and all age and interest groups. Gruene Oaks Lodge is the perfect place to reunite with a group of family, old friends or for a company retreat. This is not your typical, musty-smelling, rode-hard-and-put-up-wet “river rental” that has flooded more than once and seen its better days. This 5 bedroom, 3.25 bathroom, 2-home compound sits well above the 100-year flood plain, yet still allows for easy access to the river. The larger Cabin was hand-built in the 1950s by the original owner, then purchased in 2000 by the current owners and completed gutted and renovated while they lived here. It has only been rented out as a vacation rental since December of 2008. The smaller Cottage was built from the ground up in 2004, and has only been rented out as a vacation rental since June of 2008. Both homes feature top of the line cabinetry, countertops, appliances, flooring, furnishings, and fixtures. The compound is perfect for a completely indoor retreat, with beautiful picture windows giving you a view of the Guadalupe River and nature, but the privacy that you crave. Get away from it all, then come back to home and work refreshed and ready for anything!

With full and private access to the Guadalupe River, Gruene Oaks Lodge guests can experience various water sports easily, some even in what we Texans like to call “winter”; toob, raft, kayak, canoe, swim, or fish from our convenient shaded floating pier. And because two of the best river equipment rental companies are right around the corner (Rockin’ R River Rides and Gruene River Co.), renting from them assures you that you have the exact type of equipment that you prefer, and that it will be well-maintained and safe for your river adventures. Float for just about 90 minutes to Gruene from our back yard with this exclusive access, or enter the water further upstream with the general public for a 4-8 hour float, depending on water levels…then get out right in your backyard, going straight up to a hot shower! If you’d rather just relax and sit on the river bank and watch the river revelers, our riverbank is set up for a great day of cooking out, roasting marshmallows over a bonfire, fishing and people-watching off the pier, or just sunbathing and playing a little Frisbee. If you’re more of a “chlorinated-water” kind of person, the best water adventure park in the nation is a 5-minute drive away…Schlitterbahn!!! Nuff said…
