This luxurious and modern European-style vacation villa is located on a hilltop only 5 min by car from the famous beach village of Montezuma. The villa offers you total privacy during a vacation to dream of and remember in cold winter days. It consists of the two-story main house with two bedrooms and an downstairs studio with another fully equipped kitchen in the lower floor. Surrounded by lush gardens and incredible mountain views you are invited to relax in or around the 40 feet long infinity pool with whirlpool function or chill in the comfortable sunbeds the garden or in elegant lounge chairs on the large terrace. Wake up with the first sunlight in the spacious master bedroom or get the last sunlight of the day on the balcony of the guest bedrooms which are both tastefully furnished and decorated.

How to get there: From San Jose: by national flight to Tambor with SANSA or Nature Air, then take a taxi by rental car: drive to Puntarenas, take the car ferry to Paquera, then follow signs to Playa Montezuma (via Tambor and Cóbano) until you reach Hotel Horizontes de Montezuma on your left and then drive up the hotels driveway

Golf: There are two nine-hole golf courses in nearby village of Tambor.

The pictures of this house are accurate, and when we arrived, all of our expectations were surpassed because the home, the scenery, the pool and the other appointments of the house were so incredible! We took this trip to enjoy private relaxation away from it all in a unique and lush environment and that was what we got.

The view from the pool is great, and it is positioning gives you total privacy. From the master bedroom balcony you can see the Gulf de Nicoya over the tree tops and the early morning sunrises are breathtaking. We were surprised by the amount of interesting wildlife that we could hear and see from the many balconies and patios of the house. Each evening many interesting birds flew into to roost in the nearby trees and the howler monkeys serenaded us at sunset. Basically, it was very cool!

This house and the area surrounding Montezuma create the perfect "away from it all" trip for those looking to avoid the over-built, commercialized condo scene of other destinations.

When we first saw this listing we wondered if the house could really be as fabulous as the photos seemed to suggest. It is! All the modern conveniences, plus a few rock star luxuries, set at canopy level in the middle of a gorgeous tropical forest with exotic birds, howler monkeys and abundant, fragrant flora. We spent 10 days here- 2 couples, each with a young toddler, and the Dreamhouse was the perfect home base.

Here are the top 10 things we enjoyed about it:

10. Overall seclusion/privacy
9. Post-beach/pre-pool outdoor shower
8. Watching the midnight heat lightning in southern sky
7. Star gazing
6. Observing the 5:30pm cross-valley parakeet migration from back porch
5. Waking to sunrise in master bedroom
4. Proximity to Montezuma
3. Cooking gourmet meals in modern kitchen w/ requisite amenities & appliances
2. Birgit, who oversees the house and nearby hotel- she’s gracious, super helpful and a font of local knowledge.
1. Swimming in the infinity pool any time the urge strikes

Oh, and the top 10 things we did not enjoy about it:

1. thru 10. -- Having to leave!
