Photos and Description of the Lexington vacation house rental
House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 2-4)

Travel to Paris, KY's horse country and visit our newly restored log and stone house. It is located on a working cattle and horse farm. We are 25 - 30 minutes from Interstates 75 & 64 in Lexington. Rodgers Creek runs beside the house flowing into near by Stoner Creek. A view from the kitchen overlooks Creekview Farm, a Coolmore property. From the opposite dining area window, cows and calves could be grazing in the field.

A short drive on the scenic Paris Pike takes you past the Kentucky Training Center to Lexington, where you might take in a basketball game or concert at Rupp Arena, attend the Keeneland races or horse sales, or book area horse farm tours. The Kentucky Horse Park on Ironworks Rd is 25 miles away.

Take a day trip to Berea, KY to see their arts and crafts. Relive Kentucky history when you visit Fort Boonesborough or Fort Harrod. Visit the Kentucky History Museum in Frankfort, our state capitol. Louisville, home of the Kentucky Derby, is a 90 minute drive.

More About the Property: Locally, Paris ('Horses, History, Hospitality') is a warm community. Visit Duncan Tavern, also built in 1788; schedule a tee time at Houston Oaks golf course; stop at the Farmer's Market for some local produce.

Inside the house, you will enjoy spending time in the large but cozy log living room. Upstairs takes you to the second floor log bedroom and bath. Please note that the stairs are steep; they are original to the house, although when it was built, there were no stairs - just a ladder. A short hallway (with first floor bath) off the living room, leads to the stone bedroom - a warm blue color. The kitchen and dining areas in the rear of the house feature a vaulted ceiling and a contrast of log inner wall and colorful exterior wall. Off the kitchen is a laundry area with washer and dryer. A detached garage stands behind the house.

This is a non-smoking house, and pets are not allowed. You can contact us for special long term rental rates.

My family stayed in your home for the Rolex event in Lexington. We couldn't have been more pleased. Actually being a guest in your home just added to our visit. At the end of each day, we were blessed to have such a quiet and clean place to come back to rest and recharge for the next day. We felt at ease in your home from the first time we entered the door and look forward to staying with you again. There is so much that we didn't have time to do and the drive to your home each day was one of most beautiful views I have ever seen. Thank you for offering your very special home.

" A Little Bit Of Heaven In Kentucky "

We recently spent 8 weeks (11/19/2012 through 1/6/2013)at this wonderful home. We fell in love with the home and property as soon as we saw it. We wanted something in "horse country" not far from Lexington ( 35 minutes to downtown). It was exactly what we were looking for---from the lovely , comfortable furnishings, to the propane stove with a recliner chair on either side, and the oh "so cosy" heated mattress pad on the bed!

The pictures portray the home perfectly. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped for a long term stay. We were there over Christmas and I was so pleased to have some nice serving dishes etc. for when we had guests in.

The location is excellent. There is a nice country lane right beside the creek on the property where we walked almost every day. It runs past many beautiful horse farms and we would take carrotts to feed the horses as we walked. We always saw deer, cardinals, twohees, hawks, Canada Geese, ducks, and many other birds. It was like having our own private santuary.

It was such a wonderful place to come home to after our day trips around Kentucky. The property was spotless and well looked after. One could certainly see that the owners were proud of their home. When one loves their home so much, as is evident in this property, it is not always easy to rent to strangers. Not all rentors are created equal! We have rented other units during our travels (certainly not all up to our hopes and expectations!!) and believe me this is at the top of our list.

It is only 10 minutes to Paris, Ky. which is a great little town and has everything you need. A couple of our favorite spots there were Lil's Cafe in the JJNewberry building, Clays Restaurant, and The Rock Cafe. The people in the area were so friendly and made us feel so at home.

There is so much to see and do in Kentucky from Bourbon Tours, Red River Gorge hikes, Natural Wonder bridge, Blue Licks State Park, Horse racing, Keeneland, Churchill Downs, Lousiville, Berea--to name but a few. We hope to return to Kentucky at some time and would like to be able to rent this home again. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

We could not have asked for nicer owners. They was so helpful in every way.

A special thank you to our Hosts until we meet again.

One Week Of Heaven

My husband and I were lucky enough to stay a week at the Thomas Rodgers house. Although charmingly rustic on the outside, it is equipped with all the modern conveniences on the inside. The owners met us on our arrival and showed us about the place. It is obvious that they care mightily about the homestead. In addition, they provided us with hints on things we might be interested in seeing while we were there.

The house is spotless and decorated with a country flare. We did a lot of cooking during our stay and did not lack for any cookware, serving dishes or eating utensils. The beds are extremely comfortable and we slept like tops. The property is secluded enough that we had deer walk up to us while sitting outside in the early morning, but is close to Paris and Lexington for lunch or dinner. The view of the surrounding farms is stupendous and we had a time watching the horses in a far field.

We filled our week touring some distilleries, some wineries, some historic sites, including Boonesborough Fort and Blue Lick State Park. We visited Berea college and poked around in the wonderful craft stores. We did not see any of the many horse farms which abound in the area, but our interest did not lie in that direction.

I have stayed in a lot of rental homes over the years, and I would rate the Thomas Rodgers house as one my top three picks.

What a beautiful setting for a laid-back vacation. Lots to see in the area including the famous Kentucky Horse Ranches, Horse Racing Track, Kentucky Bourbon Brewery, Kentucky Candy, Shakers Village, Cane Ridge Meeting House and many wonderful restaurants. The home is lovely and provided us with a great place to relax and play cards. The owners greeted us and made us feel welcome in their home and provided us with the history of this family property.

I would recommend this to friends and family but would be sure to caution that it would not be suitable for handicapped persons mainly because the stairs to the upstairs bedroom (which are the originals) are not evenly spaced or sized.

Rolex 2012

We stayed here for Rolex 2012. My sister and her family were in town early for a legal conference. I arrived on Wed and got there in time for the horse inspection and some shopping at the KHP. Then we went to the house. What a charming place! The grounds are lovely and we loved having the big kitchen to prepare the several meals we ate at home. The cows and nearby horses were great companions to enjoy on our evening walks. The area is beautiful and convenient to the Horse Park and other attractions. We loved it!
