Overview

Manuel Antonio House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 3-5)

Brooks Hacienda is located on the doorstep of Manuel Antonio National Park, one of Costa Rica's most prized national parks and the only park that has beach access. It is common to be visited by 3 types of monkeys daily. That is your view. You can listen to the waves pounding the beach. The ocean is about a 10 minute drive to one of the most pristine beaches in the world.

There are many covered decks overlook the swimming pool which is a main feature of this property. From this area one can enjoy the reflection in the skies of the beautiful Costa Rican sunsets and view wildlife in the trees of the tropical rain forest.

The top part of the house is your space.(the owners live below in a private suite from Nov to April) The home was built in Nov 2008, so everything is still like new. The 2 bedrooms are a very good size and each one has its own private full bath. Each bedroom has a queen bed and one bedroom has a single bed by the window... which is full size single bed with 6 ' high density foam... very comfortable.

The kitchen is state of the art and equipped for you to prepare dinner using the local fresh produce and meats. You can enjoy your meal in the elegant dining area inside or on the deck outside. The home is outfitted with beautifully Costa Rican made furniture.

About Kate Brooks

My husband, Randy and I, Kate are from British Columbia, Canada. We have a organic pear orchard in that province and have been active organic advocators since 1991. We have enjoyed visiting Costa Rica since 1994. In 2004, we decided on the location of Manuel Antonio (after many venturers around the country) and bought a lot. It took us 4 years to build Brooks Hacienda. It was a great experience, especially learning spanish and conversing with our contractor and employees. We live 6 months in Canada and 6 months in Costa Rica. We feel we have the perfect life. We love to meet people, so we built accommodations for people to come and stay at our lovely home and enjoy it and this beautiful country.

Kate Brooks purchased this house in 2008

Why Kate Brooks chose Manuel Antonio

We chose to buy property in Manuel Antonio because it is the rainforest. The animals, wildlife, flora and fauna are alive and well. We love the vegetation and the warmth and moisture the climate offers. We also love the people of Manuel Antonio. The locals as well as the settled ex-pax.

We travelled to many different areas of Costa Rica and experienced different developed tourist areas. This area has all the availability of tourist attractions and great restaurants as more populated areas, but we get the more adventuresome crowd. It is a smaller area and so far, the community has been able to keep the chain hotels at bay. Manuel Antonio is close to the old port town of Quepos, which offers great shopping for all your grocery supplies. There is everything from fresh seafood, vegetable and fruits to organic products sold in a grocery store. This quaint town also offers good restaurants and night life. You can enjoy many cultural events if your here at the right time of year. Costa Ricans love to celebrate any event.

What makes this house unique

Brooks Hacienda offers accommodations in a quiet, private neighbourhood. There are 8 luxury homes in this area owned by Americans and Canadians. The house is about a 15 minute walk from the main road. This allows you a very relaxed and tranquil vacation. We are away from the traffic, fumes and walk in traffic. The house is new since 2008, so all the appliances, housewares, and fixtures are in 100% working order. The view from the many decks is jungle. You cannot see the ocean but you can hear it. It is just thru the park on the other side of the trees. The house is situated far enough away from the trees that you do not feel enclosed. The house borders on Manuel Antonio National Park so you see many different animals and creatures, and hear sounds that you would never hear if you were not on the border of the park. The pool at Brooks Hacienda is a vacation in itself. Always sparkling clean. It is large enough to do your laps as well as float around on one of the many air mattresses and enjoy a tanning session. The beach area with jacuzzis at your back, is a great place to sit and read a book while staying cool. Brooks Hacienda is a welcoming home and awaits your visit.

Our own private jungle..

  • 5 of 5
We just returned from spending a month at Brooks Hacienda....The villa more than exceeded our expectations. The view of the rainforest from the deck is spectacular; each day we discovered more jungle life & sounds. Though the ocean is only slightly visible from the deck, most mornings, you can hear the ocean waves breaking on the shore... Sloths, howler & white-faced monkeys, tropical birds graced us with their presence....The kitchen is big & modern w/most of what you need to cook a great meal...We did use the a/c in the bedroom at night; but the rest of the house was comfortable during the day...Pool is inviting & very private. Wi-fi worked well. Housekeeping once a week included laundry & Terry, the house manager, was attentive..We have been coming to Manuel Antonio for the last 11 years, & this time was truly our best time. We have already begun to plan our next trip....Pura Vida!!

A perfect house to relax by pool and see animals

  • 5 of 5
The views from this house are incredible. It is well worth the money to stay here. Every morning we would see Toucan birds flying around the trees as well as many other colorful birds. We also had visits from the squirrel monkeys, white-faced, and holler monkeys. The pool was also one of our favorite places to relax in.

Owner's Response: Thank you Obe and Friends for your wonderful review. We are very happy to know you enjoyed yourselves at Brooks Hacienda. The other day we had a sloth hanging in the tree by the house, a howler monkey in the tree by the pool and toucans and parrots perching and posing for great picturers. We hope you come and visit again.

Heaven on earth!

  • 5 of 5
Our family spent 8 glorious days at Brooks Hacienda. It really is as magical as everyone says. The property is exactly as shown in the photos but even nicer! The layout works so nicely and the kitchen makes cooking a pleasure. Kate and Randy are wonderful hosts answering questions and providing suggestions when we asked. They had a great binder with information about the house itself as well as suggestions on where to eat, drink, shop and visit. All of their restaurant suggestions were excellent. We coordinated a couple of tours through them and thoroughly enjoyed both. The pool was our favourite place to be - it is an oasis! Great lounge chairs, well shaded if that is what you need. Ceiling fans throughout the place and even on the balcony made it so comfortable we never once used the air conditioning provided in the bedrooms. As mentioned, their place backs on to Manual Antonio. One morning we hiked on the property and found a small waterfall in the jungle. Spectacular! There were monkeys climbing in the trees alongside the balcony as we ate our breakfast!
A few suggestions based on our experience. Consider whether you can arrive Friday night so you are able to visit the local market in Quepos on Saturday morning. There were incredible fruits, vegetables, even chicken and cheese that we were able to enjoy the entire week. Also consider whether you want to drive from San Jose. Kate had provided the name of a local fellow who will pick you up and drop you back at the airport. We thought we had time to drive but it gets dark early and we ran into issues with our car rental. In hindsight we should have taken Kate’s advice.
Thanks again Kate and Randy for one of the best holidays we have ever had. We wouldn’t change a thing (other than staying longer!)

Magical Moments

  • 5 of 5
Just spent three of the best weeks at Brooks Hacienda! It is in the perfect location between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. We used taxis and the public buses to get around. We walked to some very beautiful beaches, and caught some awesome waves, sand, shade and restaurants on the beach. Kate was amazing at arranging door to door service from the hacienda to many tour destinations. Randy and Kate's expertise and personal connections in the community made for a very magical and memorable holiday. The location of Brooks Hacienda is perfect, sitting on the edge of Manual Antonio Park. We had daily visits from toucans, parrots, butterflies, iguanas, capuchin and white face monkeys, even a pair of white tailed deer visited the property. We were close enough to the touristy vibe but really enjoyed the private pool side laughs. Swimming first thing in the morning, after the hustle and bustle of trips in the afternoon and under the moon at night. It truly is paradise. Randy and Kate are personable and very accommodating. They have set the bar high for future vacation spots we choose. The accommodations were 5 star and then some. We felt completely safe walking through the little village to get to the main road. Many of the neighbours were our taxi drivers, waiters, small business entrepreneurs. We truly experienced the real Costa Rica, people proud of their country and respectful of the diverse ecosystems that they are part of.

spectacular property right on the edge of the National Park

  • 5 of 5
We are 2 couples (40s - 50s) who often travel together. We often use VRBO. The Brooks home is absolutely fabulous. It is everything the photos and descriptions suggest, and more. And Kate and Randy are friendly and accommodating and helpful. They have solid connections (excursions etc). Manuel Antonio is hyper-tourism, and this home is a welcome break after a day exploring. A late night swim under the full moon, with the howlers wailing at us in the background. Breath-taking! The only challenge is finding the home the first time. It is well off the beaten track, through somewhat questionable neighbourhoods, but once there. . . .spectacular. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We hope to visit again some day!

Owner's Response: Thank you Art and Friends for your positive feed back on Brooks Hacienda for accommodations. We want to comment on the "questionable neighbourhood" you travel thru to get to the house. That neigbourhood is not the one we live in. We do travel thru it to get to the home. The inhabitants of those homes are the crisp, clean, polite folks that serve you in restaurants and take you on tours. Once you drive or walk thru a few times, you see how calm and friendly the "real" people of Costa Rica are. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hope you return someday. Gracias Kate and Randy

Private Relaxing Short Getaway

  • 5 of 5
Wonderful, private, romantic 3 night getaway for my girlfriend and I. Kate Brooks was very accommidating and her property manger, Jacob, was very helpful during our stay. Even though it rained most of the evenings during our stay, the days were sunny and wonderful at the amazing pool area. The rain during the evenings added a calming affect to our brief stay. Wifi was excellent all over the property and the pool area.

Can't wait to go back to this property but will stay longer next time.
