Big House - Bigger issues

This is a big beautiful home with a very nice kitchen and room for a big family. The problem is the home has many issues that made our vacation a nightmare. First, the home has several water leaks, one from the upstairs loft bedroom shower, which leaks into the master over the bed stand, partially soaking the bed. Second, was the master bathtub which leaks into the bunk room below, soaking one of the top bunks. Third, was a leak under the kitchen sink, which caused a slippery floor in the kitchen. (The management did have a plumber come 2 days after I reported it, but only fixed the kitchen leak!) Next were the technical issues with electronics. Only two TV’s actually worked to view Direct TV. All the others were not hooked up correctly. Basically if you wanted to watch TV you had the living room or the loft bedroom. The recreation room, bunkroom, did not function at all. Only one DVD player worked in the master bedroom, the DVD player in the living room was not functioning. So much for family movie nights. Next was the internet connection in which 5 of the 7 days did not work. You could connect but the connection was so slow it was essentially useless. Then there was general cleanliness. The floors were dirty, leaving bare feet black with dirt, one of the bedrooms in the loft had a blood stain on the comforter, blown light bulbs, and a suspected gas leak from the rec room fireplace.
I am not one to complain but this was a big disappoint for such a nice home. Thank goodness for Steve who is the caretaker of the property. He tried to fix the issues but most issues were well beyond a handyman fix. This home has issues. It is a shame that none of this was addressed before a lease was signed. VERY disappointed. Leasers BEWARE.

We have had many repeat guests, two of them are talking about coming back 2013 for their 3rd stay in the home. For future guests we would like for you to know that we have had the satellite/AV repairman to the home. He has reworked the TV’s/Satellite/Internet/AV system, he has made sure all equipment is functioning properly. Once we reported the leak to the plumber he went to the property as soon as his schedule would allow, the plumber did repair the kitchen leak caused by a damaged gasket on the garbage disposal. The showers upstairs needed to be caulked, which Steve did. The master jetted tub is what caused the leak in the bunk room, this had never happened before. After this was reported to us, we realized that the tub needed to be caulked, which has been done.
We had no knowledge of a potential gas leak, internet or cleanliness issue until reading this review. We have checked for a gas leak and did not find one. The internet may have been slow, which we have no control over. We are in a very remote area where DSL/Cable is not offered and so we depend on Satellite internet which is not as fast, to someone who is used to high speed it may seem slow. Good News! We have been told by installer the new system will be more a higher speed internet.
We have never had a complaint on the cleanliness before.
