Thank you so much for the use of your property in Sonoma. It was a great week and we enjoyed your house very much. The property worked perfectly for our vacation and we enjoyed it a lot. If you are looking to sell the property, it would be perfect if I ever decided to retire in Sonoma.

Cute, quaint home close to Downtown Sonoma - TERRIBLE ROOSTER NOISE ALL NIGHT LONG

  • 3 of 5
My family and I stayed at Caroline's Cottage in Sonoma this past weekend for our anniversary celebration. It's close to town, very cute. Love the outdoor space - bocce & a hot tub! Great for relaxing with a bottle of wine. We loved being able to walk to town and enjoy ourselves in all that Sonoma has to offer.

We were deeply disturbed when we were all woken up at 3 am every single night by a rooster that would crow a few times every 15 minutes until way past 9 am. This completely ruined our vacation as we went up there to relax and rest. We were promised a "quiet time" by Caroline and her property managers and were given the exact opposite. Even with earplugs in and pillows over our heads (not the way you want to spend a 'restful' vacation), we still could hear the rooster. We brought this up to the property manager and they said they had never heard of such a thing. I referred to past comments on the property and saw a Rooster comment, which Caroline acknowledged, but said it was down the street and not to worry. This was an absolutely terrible experience from the loud rooster that was DIRECTLY across the street from the home. I would like a partial refund since we purposely chose Caroline's Cottage because it promised peace and quiet. Instead, we were unable to sleep for the entire vacation weekend because of the terrible noise that occurred all night long. Do NOT stay here if you're looking for a restful nights sleep.

The beds also need serious updating! Our necks are creeky and in pain from the dust mited / flat pillows.

Owner's Response: We are glad you found the Cottage with everything you needed and enjoyment of the porches, yards, games, and hot tub. Regarding the rooster; unfortunately I have no control over what other people do with their property. A few guests have commented, but did not lose sleep by them; The neighbors' next door do not complain about them; We have stayed at our home as well and have not been bothered. I am sorry your sleep was disturbed by a neighbor's rooster. But I will look into the City ordinance.

Perfect Spot!

  • 5 of 5
My daughters and I spent 3 nights at Caroline's Cottage. We enjoyed the wide, wraparound porch every morning and evening. It was my favorite part of the house! The house is located in a relatively quiet neighborhood and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. We walked to dinner every evening. One of my daughters had been traveling for a week already so she was happy to have a washer and dryer to use. We would be happy to stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Great Value for the Price

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for a week while touring Sanoma County. We couldn't have asked for more. It was perfect for 2 couples. We only ate breakfast there but the kitchen was fully furnished had we wanted to use it. The town of Sanoma was amazing. Great restaurants and a beautiful downtown plaza. The description and pictures portray an very accurate account of what to expect. It was very comfortable and clean. We had wonderful recommendations from the owner/manager of the property. Would definitely stay there again.

Clean; Great for 2 Couples

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Caroline's Cottage for a two day wine tasting adventure in the Alexander Valley ("Taste Alexander Valley"). We only ate breakfast there and had snacks one evening but the cottage had all that could be asked for. Very quiet, although close to downtown Sonoma....I walked to the Square. Would stay here again!

The Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5
The house was just perfect. We traveled to Sonoma from DC with another couple. Caroline already had wine there waiting for us upon arrival. The house was just the right size for the 4 of us, allowing each couple to have their own private bathroom. The hot tub was GREAT and nice to come home to relax in after a full day of site-seeing and wine tours. The house is located only a 1/2 mile (definitely walkable) from the downtown area. Conveniently bike rentals are just at the end of the block too! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice, quiet getaway.

Wine Country trip

  • 4 of 5
Four of us traveled from the east coast and arrived in the afternoon. Key was in lock box as described. House clean & comfortable. Great size house for two couples. We ate breakfast and dinner at the house, using the grill for every dinner - worked fine. We used the hot tub every evening after full days of wine country touring. The hot tub was the reason we picked the house and we were very pleased. Back yard not particularly attractive but we only ended up out there in the evening in the hot tub. Additionally there was an unpleasant spell that pervaded the back yard - seemed as if cleanup after dogs was not occuring somewhere very near by. This was a good location for us as somewhat equidistant from SF airport and upper Sonoma and even Napa. We were very fortunate too to have fabulous weather. We never rented bikes but it was nice to know there was a place to do that right on the corner. The street was busier than we expected but not too noisy at night. Nearby rooster was 'fun' at 4:30 or so every morning! Never saw or heard from Caroline. Suggestions - information on local grocery store(s) and some additional core supplies (bar of soap, napkins/paper towels) particularly if renters coming via air and not likely to take with them all the extras. Also, very nice having the little white lights outback but a full string of them is out.

Owner's Response: We are very glad you enjoyed the house, the hot tub and grilling meals. I apologize that you did not find bar soap and paper towels. When you stayed, we were out of town, but even so, my housekeeper generally makes sure there are all the essentials needed (especially because so many guests fly in.) Following your suggestions, I will add information to the binder re places to shop. We will also replace the fuse to the string of lights. Thank you for your feedback and thank you for the care you took of our home. We will be pleased to have you as our guests again.
