The gorgeous scenery of Acadia National Park is the highlight of the area. There are plenty of ways you can get out to enjoy it – walking, hiking, biking, picnicking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, rock-climbing and cross-country skiing. You can get out on the saltwater on a nature cruise, whale watch, day sail or week-long charter. Ferries will take you to Swan’s Island, Frenchboro, the Cranberry Islands or Nova Scotia. The Asticou and Thuya gardens are open daily to the public. On clear nights, the dark skies of the national park and our rural areas provide the added attraction of brilliant star-gazing. During the summer months, there are art shows, musical events, garden tours, and special library and museum programs. If you want to dine out, family-style and gourmet restaurants are close by in Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor (5-10 minute drive) and Bar Harbor (30 minute drive).
