Overview

Garrison House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 12)

This is truly a gorgeous property and a place to make dreams come true. It was built in 2008, so everything is new, no old cabin smell here!! As you can see the windows overlooking the lake allow you to take in all the lake has to offer.

The views of the sun rising in the morning and the sun setting at night are truly breath taking. If you are a fisherman, then you have come to the right place as it is not more than a 5 minute boat ride to some of the best walleye and musky fishing on the lake. No matter if you like to go sailboating or jet skiing it is all here for the taking. You will enjoy the ease of having your own boat landing and private dock.

There is also a marina within walking distance if you have a large boat, need gas or just looking to hang out with the locals. Our lake home is 3.5 miles to Garrison, 23 miles to Brainerd and keep in mind that after a day on the lake its only a 15 min drive to all the night life at the Grand Casino and several restaurants with amazing food. You can also enjoy some of the best golf courses in the state of MN, go to see Brainerd International Raceway or bike ride on the paved Soo Line Trail just south of our property. No matter what it is you enjoy, this is the place where dreams come true.

About Stacy Deason

Cary and Stacy currently live in Brainerd, Minnesota. Cary went to school at STCU. Cary looks forward to hunting season, as he is an avid huntsman. Stacy is presently a homemaker and takes care of our four beautiful children. Stacy's passion is flying airplanes. Mille Lacs is plenty big to land a plane. We always dreamed of having a home on a lake. In 2008, we found this location and started to build this lovely house, to someday be where we retire. We thought we would share it to the public, so that everyone can enjoy what this home and lake have to offer. We love fishing, boating, skiing, also watching the sunrise and wildlife in the morning is just beautiful. Listening to the waves at night as you watch the sun go down, makes it feel like you are at the ocean. In the winter we enjoy ice fishing, and the winter activities the town offers on the lake. The snowmobiling trails in Garrison can get you anywhere you want to go, even to the casino; we love to eat at the seafood buffet. Hope you enjoy this home, as our family loves it.

Stacy Deason purchased this house in 2008

Why Stacy Deason chose Garrison

This lake and property intrigued us as it is filled with everything you need if you are a fisherman, snowmobiler/ATV or hunter. We chose this side on the lake because it was the best for Walleye and Muskies. During the Spring you can see the Muskies under the dock finding warmer, shallower water. You are surrounded by it all. With your own private dock and landing, it makes it easy to get in/out on the lake. If you don't have a boat, the Marina is walking distance and on our street to take you to the fish. We have a nice paved, quiet street to rollerblade and bike. A big yard to play games and nice paved driveway for your boat. Water and electricity is provided right by the dock. The private/covered hot tub has enough room for six adults, and it is nice after a hard day out on the lake, open all year around. We designed the house for large families with an open floor plan, makes the house feel roomy and comfortable. There is a beautiful view from every room, just breathtaking. The town of Garrison is three miles and 15 miles to the casino, if you love to gamble. Crashing of the waves at night, sounds like you are at the ocean, somedays you can't see the other side. This lake has activities all year around, lots to do. We just love the view and the fishing is awesome most all year around. Beautiful wildlife, peaceful and very relaxing at our home.

What makes this house unique

Mille Lacs Lake is an outdoorsmen's and fishermen's dream, full of every kind of fish and wildlife from Eagles to Deer. There is every kind of fish in this lake, from Walleye to Muskies. Ice fishing is the best! Our home is located on most desired side of the lake. Snowmobile and ATV trails located off the highway about two miles north, Minnesota has over 27,000 miles of trails. All of the activities that are offered on this lake are like no others, from fishing contests, to car racing on the ice, to wind sailing. This lake is 27 miles in diameter, third largest in the state, you can't see the otherside of the lake. Just a gorgeous place to visit.

Great time in Garrison!

  • 5 of 5

Some friends and I rented Cary and Stacy's cabin for a weekend getaway, and we couldn't have asked for a better time. It has a great layout and was a great size--actually more than we needed for 9 people!

It had all the amenities we needed, with the exception of extra toilet paper, paper towels and garbage bags... but that was an easy run to the small supermarket in Garrison. Everything else was provided, including great quality towels, nice dishes, ample fridge and freezer space for food for the weekend, everything!

We ventured out to Kathio State Park (about 20 minutes away) and climbed the 100-foot observation tower. It was gorgeous looking out over the fall leaves and Mille Lacs.

We are considering making this an annual trip and highly suggest other people check out their great cabin.

Great Property during Winter!

  • 4 of 5

First off, the house is amazing and really reasonably priced during the winter. It’s huge and there’s plenty of room for a people to congregate as one. We loved being able to cook, serve the food and eat all as one group at the table. The view of the lake is wonderful from both upstairs and downstairs. There’s a huge cabinet of games above the fridge in the kitchen. The hot tub was awesome to use in the winter. But as the owner warned us…you have to walk outside to get to the hot tub so your hands/feet can freeze as you’re going back into the house.

The ice fishing house that comes with the property is very small. It’s 6 holes and is good for about 3 or 4 people to be in at once. The communication was poor as far as how to get the ice house set up in working order. Make sure you contact the marina in advance (Phil’s Myr Mar Marina) and let them know you want the holes drilled and that you’ll be paying cash for it (about $30). You also need a battery to run the electricity in the ice house (i.e. have lights). During our trip (Feb 2015), you could see the ice house from the main house but needed to use the marina’s roads to access it.

Overall, great trip, lots of memories made and we’d love to come back in the summer!

Owner's Response: Maria, I am so glad you enjoyed your visit at our home. We try to make sure everything is as perfect as possible for everyone. I am always available on my cell phone for any questions or help you might need with anything. The marina takes care of our fish house for us as I can't do that part of my rental. I offer that free of charge with a great winter nightly rate. I usually tell everyone about the fish house as I did in the email I sent you February 3 as copied," The fish house is out on the ice, not to far out. They will drill holes for you for a charge. If you want to bring your own, you are welcome too. There is electricity with a battery and a generator. The heater is propane, make sure the tank is turned on and then off when you leave. The furnace has a pilot light to start it. IF you have problems let me know, I can run out and help you. The last renter left some tackle for you. The rattle reels are there already set up. You don’t need a pole unless you would rather fish that way. There are two beds out there bring sleeping stuff with you if you are planning on staying out late. Also bring a few folding chairs, there are a few in the utility room in the cabin. Let me know if you have any problems, I am only 25 minutes away." I didn't word to bring a battery or generator sorry about the wording on that sentence. Yes, you need to bring a battery or generator to hook up to the electricity connection. I thought the rest of the instructions were self explanatory. As for the hot tub being a few feet outside, the below weather conditions might be dangerous to your skin as I was concerned and mentioned to you to be careful. I appreciate you taking time and commenting about your stay at our wonderful home. See you in summer! Stacy

Fantastic winter retreat!

  • 5 of 5

6 of us stayed here in January 2015, for a winter, guys weekend. We were able to really spread out in the house, and enjoyed it thoroughly. It had everything we needed including a card table- perfect for nights in when its cold outside. We also used the ice house to do some ice fishing. Stacy was a pleasure to work with, and was very accommodating to our needs. The house was gorgeous, and relatively new- just a great place to spend some time if you're looking for a relaxing location, but still with the options for activities both indoors and out.

Winter Traditions

  • 5 of 5

I cannot think of anything more wonderful for the weekend then getting out of the city and relaxing in a cozy cabin with a hot tub. Having made this our 3rd trip to House of Dreams, once again our group of 12 people had plenty of room, plenty of fun, and great hospitality. A tradition that my friends and I truly cherish each winter...even on the visits where it's -20 outside.

Owner's Response: We are so excited to hear about how much you enjoy our home. We love to have guests return every year. It makes it special to have relationships with people we know. We added a rather large kitchen table to accommodate up to 10 people comfortably. We also added two more comfy couches to the living room, always trying to add to make the house more enjoyable. See you next year!

Much to do in Minnesota

  • 5 of 5

I picked this house after many, many searches for the perfect spot. It didn't disappoint. We had 9 adults and 4 children in our group and the house was a great layout. The owners answered many questions that I had leading up to the stay and even took a few pics of area things that we could do. Jet ski rental, canoe, paddle boards, fishing launch and casino night were among the excursions. We met the great neighbors and had fantastic burgers and sandwiches at the small BP gas station. It was so nice to have a washer and dryer and most things that make "home life" easier. The view was breath taking and weather near perfect. Nearby Crosby was a great town to check out and all of the shops that we went to were cute and very friendly staffed. Recommending this to all and wishing we were still there. The only thing that we could have used would have been kitchen towels, I actually had 1 tea towel that I brought and think we left there...and also a low ball glass for grandpa's martini. thanks so much!

Great Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Great place for our family vacation, which included three generations. Everyone loved the game room and the hot tub. Sitting around the fire pit at night was so enjoyable, especially making s'mores. Swimming off the private dock provided lots of photo opportunities for grandma. This was such a beautiful, clean, roomy house and we wish we would have had more time to spend there. The fishermen wished the fish would have been biting, and lack of hangers in the roomy closets and no can opener in the otherwise well equipped kitchen were the only drawbacks, The neighbors were closer than we expected, but they were nice people, so no problem. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to place a review about our home. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay there. I will check the can opener, we did have one there, I will replace it with a new one. Also, I will add more hangers for sure. We hope you will come and stay at our home again in the future. Take Care, Stacy & Cary
