This is a beautiful, brand new house located in the Hills of Esterillos. THIS IS A NON-SMOKING HOME. It is great for any family vacation or anyone who wants to enjoy the comfort of a house. It is furnished with authentic, Costa Rican, hand made furniture. Gate guarded in a new, developing, community. Backs up to rain forest. 'Casa Viva' is located in Esterillos Oeste, a typical small Costa Rica fishing village where fishermen still roll their boats over the sand into the surf. It is located on Playa de Esterillos, a long, beautiful beach that rarely has more than a few surfers and sun bathers. The beach is a short walk down the hill from the house where you will find wonderful waves for surfing or body-boarding. If you turn right when you reach the beach, you'll see natural lava flow breakwaters with tide pools for snorkeling and places for children to play. Keep walking along the beach and see capuchin monkeys as you search for seashells.

In the surrounding area there is plenty of fun activities. Stroll down to Playa Esterillos, about a 12 minute walk, and take a surf, or take a short drive to Playa Hermosa and surf some of the best waves in Costa Rica. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings from the party deck. If you'd like some excitement or a night on the town, it's only a 15 minute drive to Jaco, the Las Vegas of Costa Rica. Jaco has casinos, fine dining, sushi restaurants and jazz bars. You can also get a massage or shop for souvenirs. Or if you're interested in a romantic dinner watching the sunset over the Pacific, Villa Caletas is the perfect spot, about 10 minutes past Jaco.

Other sights in Costa Rica are not far from Esterillos Oeste: Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs and Monteverde Cloud Forest are about 4 hours away. There are many exciting things to do from Oeste, all within an hour or less drive from the house. For example, you can go to Manuel Antonio, one of the finest national parks in CR, go white water rafting, ride the 'zip' lines over the rain forest, go deep sea fishing, or take a monkey tour in a mangrove swamp. And best of all, the road to and along this part of the coast is good all the way from San Jose to Esterillos Oeste and Quepos, a very important fact in a country where most roads are dirt and require a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

Casa Viva is easily accessible via a three hour flight from Houston or Dallas to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, or a five hour flight from LAX. It is then a scenic two-hour drive from San Jose over the mountains to Esterillos Oeste. We can help you arrange for an experienced driver with a large passenger van to pick you up at the airport and drop you off at the front door of the house. Or you can reserve a car at the San Jose airport from any of the major car rental agencies and drive to the coast. In addition Budget, National, etc. car rental agencies are available in Playa Jaco if you just want a car for a short time.

The last week of 2008 I stayed with my family at Casa Viva. This is a wonderfull house, very comfortable and nice decoration to have an incredible vacation and relax time. I recommend Casa Viva for those who want to enjoy in the beautifull and natural beaches of Costa Rica.
