Hiking, bird watching and fishing in the area is also amazing.
A short drive will take you into Sooke which offers a number of amenities including a public swimming pool, gym, zip lines, grocery stores, gas station, restaurants and shopping. Only 45 minutes away is beautiful downtown Victoria. Have a look at Tourism Victoria's website for details.
Arrived in rain last night but was soon comforted by the warmth of a
crackling wood scented fire and the laughter and chatter of my beloved
family. Woke up early this morning and looked out to a complete and
utter calm and stillness - where 'peace comes dropping slow'. Such
moments, snatched from busy lives, are precious memories to taste and
savour for days to come with people I love. Shafts of sunlight are
beginning to to make the pine leaves sparkle like crystals. I must out
and sniff the air...............Sybil and Chad, thank you for all of this.
I met my friends from Minnesota for our 20th Annual Girls Weekend (ok, longer than a weekend)! We had a great time. The property was truly beautiful. It was so fun watching the sunsets and seeing the tide come in and go back out. It was amazing that it looked so different each day.
The accomodations were wonderful. Everything was so clean and Chad was wonderful to work with. It was a great time, despite it being a little cooler than normal. Made the hot tub so much more fun.
We have rented a number of properties in Canada and in Europe and Heron Point House was one of the best. The property is clean, well equipped and well maintained. We would recommend this rental property to our family and friends.
The Heron Point in East Sooke is a great place to stay in. It has it all if you like to stay close to the nature and wild animals.
Heron Point House was an experience of a lifetime for our University Girl's Reunion Weekend. Located on a spacious piece of incredible ocean front property, the floor to ceiling windows surrounding the home provide beyond spectacular vistas. The house itself is tastefully decorated with everything you could possibly need for a most enjoyable stay. If you are seeking serenity and a piece of heaven here on earth, look no further. Heron Point House offers privacy with its breathtaking setting for intimate or large gatherings at a very affordable cost.
We landed in Victoria on Friday, rented our vehicle, travelled through spectacular scenery to East Sooke where we purchased our groceries and were settled in less than an hour. Our weekend was filled with hikes on spectacular scenic trails located all over the area (bring appropriate footwear!), touring and shopping in the quaint towns and sightseeing in Victoria. We mostly did our own cooking (great kitchen, BBQ and huge dining room) accompanied with wine and some great R&R in the hot tub on the beautiful deck while soaking in the majesty of the surroundings.
Other "musts" checking out the starfish and other aquatic life with your morning coffee, kayoing, sunbathing, or taking a dip in the ocean. We recommend lunch at Sticklebacks, super location right on the ocean. Also, when in Victoria, don't miss Fish and Chips at Barb's and be sure to feed the seals (beware of the seagulls!). Cocktails in the Bengali Lounge at the Empress is well worth a visit too! All in all, Heron Point House was a hit!
Heron Point is more than just an "Oceanfront House with a hot tub and a private beach". Although it is beautiful appointed, spotlessly clean (and with little chocolates on the bedroom pillows) modern and with tons of accommodation, the real charm is that it is very private, peaceful and quiet. Sitting in the hot tub, listening to the eagles, geese and other wildlife, watching the tides turn, seeing the otters if you are lucky and the seals in the harbour, brings home the point that we are on the West Coast of one of the most beautiful places in the world. It really is in a place that is the gateway to the West Coast with lots of hiking, surfing yet at Jordan River and a close drive to Botanical Beach and the beginning of the West Coast Trail. My first stay and I did not want to move from the couch, sitting in front of the fireplace and reading, often times glancing out waiting to see the eagles fly by the waterfront. My thanks to the owners for offering up their home, with clearly personal touches of hand carved birds and First Nations art.
This is the second year we have had the pleasure of using the Heron Point house. It's location is perfect for the quiet get away with privacy afforded by its large property bordering the ocean. Hiking trails next door and its proximity to all the amenities of the Victoria and Sooke area make it ideal. The house is beautiful with all needs provided for right down to the spices, martini glasses and tin foil. There are few things that can compare to a hot tub, a glass of scotch and a ocean view! Although we enjoyed it as a couple it is well suited for a family.
