Carla Terrazas purchased this house in 2000
The house was a beautiful place with sufficient beds and clean linen for even our large party of 14. We had a great time. Although we had no kids in our party, the hosts have thought of everything, games/crayons/toys/baby seat/gate etc. for those with kids.
only thing we thought was missing was a shoe rack, as per Alaska law (or house rules), we had to remove outside shoes at the door and there was no space to place all the shoes. I have mentioned it to the owner and he probably will make some arrangements for that.
Loved the place, had a great time at the place and in Alaska.
We rented this house for our weeklong field trip. We had 17 people, and the house was perfect for us, all of the amenities of home and a place for the kids to play. We would definitely stay again if we go back to Anchorage. It was a perfect fit! We will be recommending this house to others!
A little about us first. We are from rural Alaska and needed to spend a month in Anchorage but didn't want to be squished into a hotel and deal with the people and constant noise. This home was the perfect answer. Bob and Carla are a pleasure to deal with, always responsive and available and very accommodating. The home is very well stocked, located in a nice quiet neighborhood and convenient to shopping. I have two toddler boys (1 and 3) so having two of the guest bedrooms upstairs by the master was convenient. There is plenty of room to play and spread out. The deck was the perfect place for them to play in the snow and get some fresh air (I blocked the stairs to the back yard so they were safely confined). They loved the large soaker tub in the master bath.
In short, it felt as much like home as it possibly could have and I will definitely do business with Bob and Carla again.
My family and I rented this house for a short ski trip. We had 12 people and the house was plenty big for our group. The location was great also. We loved the house and will stay again if it is available for our next trip. I can't think of anything that would have made this home better. It really did feel like a home-away from home instead of a small hotel room. I would like to also thank Carla for all of her timely responses concerning our stay!
The home was sufficient for the large number of people in our party. Unfortunately, upon arrival there were issues getting the front door key pad to work. The owner seemed inconvenienced to have to assist us in trying to figure it out, as she was at work and her husband was responsible for changing the lock code, even though we called the telephone number listed on the contract for when assistance regarding the property was needed. Upon entering the home, we discovered numerous items in various states of disrepair, such as:
1. A corner of the ceiling falling down, in the butler's pantry, due to a previous roof leak.
2. The kitchen faucet was broken and was difficult to turn off and on or to switch between normal flow and the spray nozzle.
3. The towel racks in a couple of the bathrooms were pulled out of the walls and dangling by screws.
4. We never could figure out how to turn on the outside lights, as none of the switches seemed to work.
5. The outside outlet, used to plug in the block heater, was dangling by a nail, had a broken face plate, and was not even built into the wall. We were not ever sure if it actually worked.
6. The fireplace was not functional, which we were not informed of in advance.
7. There were no directions left in the home regarding how things functioned (heater, television, etc...).
8. The kitchen cabinets were dirty and packed full of old expired food items from previous guests.
9. Most of the dishes in the cabinets were dirty and need to be washed prior to using.
10. There was no can opener and kitchenware was very old and worn; most looked like they had been obtained from the local thrift store.
11. There were plenty of beds, but they all could use new box springs and mattresses.
This is one of the most expensive homes that I have ever rented from VRBO, for the least amount of time, and was the most disappointing overall.
The house was a perfect fit for what we needed. We had 11 people we needed to house for four days, and the house was perfect. Everything was just as described and very comfortable - like a home away from home! The owner was very responsive. Every time I had a query, she responded to me within a couple of hours. All of the guests were impressed with the house, and we would definitely stay there again.
The Coastal Trail and Campbell Creek are located at the end of the street with access to hundreds of miles of bike trails.
