Photos and Description of the Gardiner vacation barn rental
3 BR, 2 BA, sleeps 8-10

Wow..what a view..love the loft! You may not have been 'BORN IN A BARN',... but here's your chance to STAY in one! We invite you to stay in our barn loft and call it your home, while you relax and enjoy our nation's largest and oldest National Park.

Barn on the Banks is located in a quiet area on the outskirts of Gardiner, Montana. We are less than 1 mile to the park's North Gate Entrance, famous for the Teddy Roosevelt Arch, and within walking distance to downtown shops, restaurants, a grocery store, post office and excellent trout fishing.

Yellowstone river runs through this small town that is nestled at the foothills of Electric Peak, a majestic mountain that carries snow throughout most of the year. We are located at the end of a lane with no through traffic. Our loft overlooks the confluence of the Gardiner and Yellowstone rivers, and has unobstructed spectacular views of the mountains. We border the river and we are directly across from Yellowstone Park.

A short walk down the bank takes you to the river's edge where you can sit and enjoy nature, including frequent fliers of ducks, geese, bald eagles, and osprey, or possibly see a family of otters playing in the water.

From our deck you can view hummingbirds, mountain songbirds, and wildlife including deer, elk, Big Horn sheep, Pronghorn (antelope), or possibly see a bear, wolf, coyote, or bison.

One summer while sitting on the deck of the barn, my husband witnessed a doe deer giving birth to twin fawns. We frequently saw mama deer and her little ones close to our house and barn throughout the summer. This is truly an area you'll be able to experience nature.

The barn has never housed animals. The barn loft was renovated in 2008-2009, and features a full kitchen with all new appliances, comfortable seating in the living area, and a large deck that looks into Yellowstone Park. You can sit by the fire on a chilly night, or cool down with air conditioning on a hot summer day.

There are amazing views from all areas of the loft made easy by several large windows. The master bedroom has a king bed, private bath, air conditioning, a fireplace and your own private balcony to sit, relax and enjoy the sunset.

The 'Queen Room' is kissed by the morning sun, and has the ambiance of a fireplace as well. The 'bunk room' has two sets of bunks, one is a double bed topped by a twin, the other is a regular twin over twin. The sofa in the living room converts to a full size bed.

Great location and wonderful owners

We booked the Barn and immediately felt like it was home! We booked our vacation to cross country ski and snowshoe and Yellowstone, and the Barn is only about 2 miles from the Park entrance and 6-7 miles from the Mammoth Hot Springs ski shop. The house is immaculate, and well-furnished. The owners have clearly put a lot of though and effort into finishing the home, and it was wonderful. We would definitely recommend it for couples or families, and having the washer/dryer and the deck was wonderful. The owners were also kind enough to check in on us, and make sure we had everything we needed. We thought it was a great value, and we hope to come back again!

What a FANTASTIC place!!

We were back again for another stay at The Barn on the Banks. This time for 10 days - it was like coming home again.

We have stayed at VRBO rentals all over the world, and truthfully The Barn is the best rental we've ever had. Don't let the name fool you - this is no barn - it only has the architectural lines of a barn.. Linda has made it so comfortable and cozy sparing nothing to add charm and character to the place. The kitchen is very well-stocked with everything you need plus condiments and spices. The towels are fluffy and new, as are the bed linens. This definitely does not "feel" like a rental. It truely has the feeling of home!

If you're there to see and enjoy Yellowstone Park (YNP), the location is the best. The Barn is less than 5 minutes from the Park's North Entrance which leads you into the the Park's northern half which is easily the prettiest part of YNP. The road toward Lamar River valley and the NE entrance is unbelievably beautiful.

There's wildlife everywhere! One of the very best places to see and enjoy the wildlife is right from The Barn! Either from inside or on the deck, there are great views right into YNP where you see all kinds of wildlife. Every morning we enjoyed seeing elk, bighorn sheep, pronghorn antelope, and mule deer right from the Barn while we were cooking breakfast. Again in the evenings, wildlife for the viewing enjoyment right from inside The Barn.

The only other thing I'd add is that Linda and Ken truly have a gift for hospitality. They take great care to be sure you are well cared for and comfortable, and have all the info you need to enjoy the area.

You won't know what you missed if you stay anywhere else in this area.

Wonderful Base for Exploring Yellowstone Park

My wife and I spent one of the best week-long vacations of our life at the Barn on the Banks. We commend Ken and Linda for "truth in advertising" with regard to the amenities offered at their loft. The experience was just like being at home. Without qualification we can recommend the Barn on the Banks to families and individuals interested in exploring Yellowstone, photography, hunting, fishing and just plain relaxing.

Settle right in and have a great time!

It was easy to settle in considering everything is spotlessly clean and the whole apartment is warm and inviting. The decor is even more interesting and creative than appears in the photos. We really appreciated all the attention to detail which really makes a difference; you will find just about anything you could possibly need! We loved coming home in the evening to the cozy fireplaces, dinner already finished in the crock pot and finally falling into a very comfortable bed. In the morning we opened all the blinds and drank coffee while taking in the views. It is also worth heading down to some seating by the river for wonderful views. However, it's not like we didn't get loads of those in the park! This is a perfect location for exploring Yellowstone, especially Mammoth and Lamar Valley where we experienced great wolf watching. Make sure you stop at the Yellowstone Assc right in town for really helpful info. Remember to check out the tours available in the park (many are free). The tour of Old Faithful Inn was quite interesting. We also enjoyed West Yellowstone where we stopped to see the Lewis and Clark film at the Imax and the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center specifically for more wolf info. Linda is very responsive to any questions you may have before you arrive or during your stay. She is a wealth of info as well as her husband who knows his history! We already miss Barn on the Banks and these special hosts!

We had a wonderful time spending 4 nights at Barn on the Banks. The location is perfect for accessing the park. There were elk nearby every evening. The guys had a fabulous time fly fishing just down the hill from the home. The owners were helpful and available in a very non-intrusive way. We would definitely go back!!!
