A well known blogger wrote a piece about the flat in 2010. We have improved the apartment since but you might find it interesting. If you search for '1477 McAllister Susan Anderson' on google, you will find it.

The house is centrally located, one block from Alamo Square with its famous view of the row houses known as the, 'painted ladies,' and recently renovated playground for children. Several area attractions are close by including Haight-Ashbury, Golden Gate Park, Castro district, Japantown, de Young museum, Fillmore Street, and City Hall. The flat is within walking distance from many well-reviewed area restaurants, coffee shops and nightlife.
You can walk everywhere. Our walk score is 92 out of 100: http://www.walkscore.com/score/1477-mcallister-st-san-francisco-ca-94115
We have lived in San Francisco for over 13 years and love everything about it. We fell in love with the apartment the first day we saw it, and I hope you will like it as well.
Our home was built before the Earthquake in 1906. Although it has been renovated, you will be able to notice part of the original design.
Within a 2-10 block radius from the flat, you can walk to 6 coffee shops, 15 restaurants, 2 dry cleaners, 2 organic corner stores, 2 parks, 1 tennis court, Golden Gate Park, Japantown, Alamo Square, Lower Haight.
Peggy D. purchased this apartment in 2006
We love the location, very central to everything yet part of the local community. It is 1 block from Alamo Square, such a beautiful park with the Painted Ladies.
The Alamo Square Historic District is significant as a continuum of distinguished residential architecture by distinguished architects spanning the period from the 1870's to the 1920's. You will see amazing Victorian Home that survived the big Earthquake, including our place which is where you will be staying.

Enjoying a nice dinner at sunset with a beautiful view
I stayed in this flat as one of 3 couples for a reunion trip in San Francisco. The space was clean, large and accommodated the 6 adults and 1 baby very well. It was easy to take the bus to other public transit and we walked to GG park & Haight/Ashbury without any trouble. Peggy was responsive prior to arrival and we had everything we needed at the flat. Would rent again without hesitation.
Super Wohnung. Alles war vorhanden. Ganz netter Kontakt. Wir bekamen reichlich Informationen. Wohnung sehr sauber und gut erhalten. Zum weiter empfehlen. Nahe Busstation. Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sehr schnell mit den ÖV erreichbar. Man braucht kein Auto.
I can't tell you how much we enjoyed our visit to San Francisco, and what made it so enjoyable was staying in your flat versus a hotel. My family just loved it. We will be contacting you again for future stays. Having a parking spot was a real plus.
Myself, my wife and two teenage children stayed here for five days in July. The accommodation was of a high standard, had everything that was required and perfectly located. We were touring California so had a car when we visited. The parking space was a huge advantage in an area of busy parking with various restrictions. As promised the flat was perfectly located for getting around with a bus stop outside easily connecting us to the city centre and elsewhere. Would not think of looking elsewhere for accommodation on a return visit to the city.
We spent 4 great days and comfortable nights in Alamo Square Flat. Well maintained, traditional Victorian walk-up. Yes, there are stairs! But once you make it to the top the flat is spacious, clean and comfortable, with modern bathrooms and kitchen. Location can't be beat - pretty residential neighborhood, right on the #5 Muni line which runs across the center of the city. Quick walks to other lines. A definite plus for sightseeing. Owners were both pleasant and helpful - positive experience all around.
We had a perfect stay in San Francisco with our family of five, including three teenagers. The apartment is very centrally located with a lot of restaurants and bars nearby. It's a beautiful property and is well maintained and clean. We especially appreciated the parking space and the washer dryer - we did not use our car at all while in San Francisco; the bus system is convenient and easy to navigate. The owner, Peggy, was very helpful and prompt in answering questions. We visited all the usual San Francisco attractions, but we especially enjoyed the museum and the Academy of Sciences - an amazing place for kids, teens, and adults.
