Enjoy your morning coffee marveling at the beautiful sunrises and watching the working lobster boats from the full oceanfront deck, or you may choose to spend a lazy morning in the king-sized canopy bed being lulled by the sound of the waves lapping the shore. There are steps leading down to the water, enjoy packing a picnic lunch and a bottle of wine and dining on the boulders. Explore what the tide washed up. There’s always something wonderful to discover in Coastal Maine. You’ll be able to enjoy an ocean view from each room of our home. The rooms are spacious and very comfortably furnished. Linens, pillows, blankets, towels are all provided, as well as a washer and dryer. The kitchen is fully equipped and the dinning room seats 6. The deck is fully equipped with patio furniture and a gas grill. This house is our home and we sincerely wish that you will love and enjoy it as much as we do.

Restful and beautiful

We've just returned from a week at the Welch's house in Jonesport (October 2009) and had one of the most restful vacations ever. The house is exactly like the photographs, but even better, it is in a quiet and very private area along the coast between Route 1 and Jonesport. And, it was very clean and warm when we arrived on a cold, rainy fall day. Unlike many vacation homes, the kitchen here is well equipped, and I found it a breeze to make full meals--a necessity since there are so few restaurants nearby. Reserving the house and making plans were made easy by the conversations I had with the Welches, their extensive knowledge of the area, and their desire for us to have a great vacation there. They were attentive to our needs and resolving our initial problems with the satellite TV at the house. Their local manager, Bruce, was equally helpful. This is a great place to unwind and get away from fast-paced living. During the "season" there may be more options available, but be prepared to cook at home, drive quite a ways to a large grocery store, and have limited restaurants to choose from. We found that all part of the quiet side of Maine that was very appealing. Seeing the countryside and the fabulous ocean views were our goals. We loved being away from it all, especially in Eastport, and right in our own living room. We'd highly recommend this property.

We found this property to be very comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed and then some. The view was spectacular allowing us to see some beautiful sun and moon rises over the water. We had a full moon during our stay which lit up the sky, I'm sure on darker nights the stars would be incredible. I wish we could have bottled the fragrance of the sea air mixed with the scent of the pines. In all it was a welcoming place to return to after our daily excursions to explore the Down East area

wonderful views, quiet relaxation

I travelled to this home in Jonesport after vacationing near there in Machiasport last year. I went with my husband, teenaged daughter, and little dog. We had the most relaxing vacation imaginable. The home was well-maintained and clean. We got a thoughtful phone call both from the owner and from the maintenance man on the first night to check to see that all was well and that we were settled in.

There is no way to adequately describe the sounds, views, and smells of the Atlantic ocean mere feet from the house. This was a true downeast experience, watching the lobster boats haul their traps each morning not long after the sun rose behind the island just off shore. We enjoyed the comfortable furniture, indoors and out, and the arrangements of the bedrooms that allowed us to view the water from our beds. With the doors and windows open, we could listen to the waves breaking on the rocks as we fell asleep at night, and we could hear the water as we awoke in the morning. Sublime.

We passed the time reading, exploring, and eating the local seafood as well as the wild blueberries (not always in season), new potatoes and other produce sold at roadside stands.

Every other day, we did explore. One night we went on the Sunset whale watch aboard the Sylvina W. Beal windjammer cruise out of Eastport Me. The owners of the home provided us with many pamphlets and flyers so a family could pick and chose where they would want to go.

Despite our slow pace while on vacation for a week, the time passed all too quickly and we were very reluctant to leave. I would highly recommend this home for a truly relaxing getaway.
