A spacious 'Dutch Colonial' farm house, the Churchill Residence is located in the east end of the Ojai Valley, a half block from Thacher School and the Krishnamurti Library, adjacent to Twin Peaks Ranch. Originally part of the historic Pierpont property, the 3750 square foot house was designed and built in 1908 for Civil War veteran General Charles G. Penney. It has been owned by the Churchill family since 1955. A short drive from Ojai Town Center, the residence is set back one-tenth of a mile from Thacher Road. Amid orange and avocado orchards, the location is private and serene. Beautifully landscaped grounds compliment mountain and valley views from verandas on the front and back of the house.

The Churchill Residence has become popular with women's groups and writers groups. It's secluded and peaceful, a great place to catch up with friends, read, think, create. The house is not suitable for parties or groups with children for reasons of wear and tear and safety. Infants are OK.

My friends and I rented this lovely home for a girls'
getaway weekend. The house has just about every
amenity you could ask for. It's very comfortable and
spacious, and the property surrounding the house is
beautiful. We had such a wonderful time, and we
definitely want to make a return visit.

My writing group took a four day respite to the Churchill house in November to escape from our jobs, families and distractions. We are all working on novels or poetry compilations and wanted to find our voices. The experience exceeding our high expectations.

My bedroom faced dramatic mountains in the background with a burnt orange sunset that disappeared behind the rocky crest. In the foreground, sinewy orange trees in geometric rows gave me the feeling of being enveloped in an organic fortress.

The kitchen was put to good use; the smell of creole okra and barbequed tri-tip competed with orange peel and flower blossoms.

I wrote at the pool; I wrote on the veranda; I wrote in the library, filled with wondrous books from several generations.

I relaxed in the hammock during warm afternoons (in November); I immersed my body in the redwood hot tub at night and looked up at the stars and let the lush sounds of the night envelop my consciousness.

Do I recommend the Churchill house, you ask? Let me just say that we're planning quarterly writing junkets to the Churchill house indefinitely.

What an amazing weekend...and all spent at the beautiful Churchill House. 9 of us gathered to celebrate my girlfriend's 40th birthday. The house and the scenery are both hard to beat. Our breakfasts and dinners were spent outside on the porches, and were bookended by the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We recommend the Churchill house to any group of friends/family looking for a place to stay when visiting Ojai. It is close to town, yet in the hills enough to feel you've gotten away from the day to day grind. You can simply eat, relax, swim, and have a blast with your friends. Would do it again!

Six girl friends, celebrating 30 years of friendship,spent a delightful weekend at this remarkable home in Ojai. The house is large and lovely, quite peacefully situated in an orange grove. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The hot tub, pool and outdoor shower are added bonuses to this idyllic setting. We definitely hope to return.

We spent a fabulous weekend at this gorgeous house. We were celebrating my 40th birthday and I had a vision of the perfect weekend. This house brought that vision to life. The front porch was the optimal place to have breakfast or simply lounge in one of the two hammocks. At night we gathered by the fireplace in the living room. And during the day the orange groves offered the perfect backdrop for leisurely walks. Had the weather been a bit warmer we would have taken advantage of the crystal blue pool. Luckily the hot tub was the perfect solution. It was truly a spectacular place.

We will definitely be back!
