Luxury townhome has alll of the comforts of your own home and then some! Located on the Big Thompson River, just 2 miles outside the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance, this townhome is located in a very quiet, serene area yet close enough to walk to the town of Estes Park. Less than a mile away from the town center where you can shop, eat, and visit the historical Stanley Hotel, famous for the movie, 'The Shining'. Or you can sit outside on the deck overlooking the Big Thompson River and watch the elk and deer walk by. Never approach wildlife, especially around their babies, but you'll have a great view from the deck! This townhome is truly breathtaking, very warm and comfortable, with a beautiful fireplace, 2 car garage, top-of- the-line appliances and all the amenities you'll ever need. A little piece of heaven right here on earth!

Perfect Place to Stay

This thoughtfully furnished townhome offers all of the comforts of home. After a day of hiking, our family enjoyed returning "home" to relax in our own spaces. My husband stepped out back to fly fish just steps from the deck. The kids holed up upstairs in "their" loft. I surfed the Internet checking the ever changing weather forecast and places to go.

As first time visitors to Rocky Mountain, we found the national park enchanting. We don't often repeat vacations. However, we would make an exception if we could return again in late-August when the crowds are down and if we could book another week at this beautiful townhome.

Luxurious retreat

Two words to describe Sandra's property: Location & Luxury. The townhouse is situated between Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park. It is one mile to Estes Park in one direction and 2-3 to the entrance to RMNP in the other direction. It was very convenient not to have to travel through town to get to the national park. Yet, at the same time, the townhome is conveniently located close to town, so you can walk if you choose.

The townhome is very luxurious, clean, and well-maintained. After a full day of hiking, we felt like we were returning to a resort to enjoy our evening. The townhome has all the amenities of home--plus more. The full-size kitchen, one-car garage, and plenty of overall space was great for our family of three plus my parents. The townhome is even more pleasant than the pictures show. Sandra was WONDERFUL to work with, even meeting us at the home the day we arrived. Prior to our arrival, she was very helpful with information via the phone and e-mail. The location on the Big Thompson River was exceptional, providing soothing river sounds at night while we slept. The elk came to our front and back yards. A stellar blue jay and 2 chipmunks visited us daily. I would definitely recommend Sandra's property to anyone.

This was our first trip to RMNP and we hope to visit again in the future. The hiking was beyond exceptional and Trail Ridge Road is outstanding. It was quite the educational experience to hear the bugling of the elk. The town of Estes Park was lovely with many shops and restaurants. The area and Sandra's townhome are perfect for adventure seekers or for those who just want to see the beauty of nature from their front yard.

Thanks, Sandra, for sharing your home with us. Thanks also for the wonderful note and welcoming gifts. We have never rented from anyone as hospitable as you. We hope to visit you again in the future.

Could not have been better!

We have stayed in many rental homes throughout the country over the years, and this is easily one of the best! The design, furnishings, location and communication from the owner were all exceptional. We were much more interested in RMNP than Estes Park itself, and we could be in the park in just a few minutes.

The only minor caution is that, if you have little children, there are many animal-themed decorative items that could be very tempting to children. If that doesn't bother you, I highly recommend that you rent this house!

Convenient Condo near Estes Park

  • 5 of 5
  • Submitted: Aug 10, 2011

Photos provided give an accurate representation of the unit. What you don't see are the convenient one car garage parking, the 360 degree mountain/river views, the short drive to downtown Estes Park, the wifi access, and the deer/elk that wander by. With one bedroom up and a second on the main floor, each of two couples who shared the condo had a degree of privacy. The place was spotless. Furniture was good quality. Kitchen was well stocked. The owner was there to greet us and to answer questions.

Rocky Mountain National Park was nearby. Trail Ridge Road gave breathtaking views, but I found the alluvial fan area fascinating. It was there a local earthen dam ruptured in the 80s spewing rocks and trees as if they were pebbles and toothpicks. Now families climb uphill to get a better view of the roaring waterfall as kids focus on the mounting the boulders. We attended only one RMNP ranger presentation (about Big Horn Sheep) late in the week. If I could do it again, I'd check the flyer the Park Service provides at the entrances and take advantage of more of those informative nature sessions.

We are seniors. Two of us found the river walk through Estes Park and around the lake to the Lodge delightful. The other two found waiting on the Lodge's deck sipping iced tea also delightful. All four of us enjoyed a great lunch there afterward. Couldn't beat the views.

If you want to shop, go in the morning when the crowds are smaller. There are a great variety of stores. The library is also worth a stop. They have computer access if you don't bring your laptop. We found all the groceries we needed at the local Safeway. Even if you're from out of state, fill out a quick form and they'll give you a shoppers' card that allows for their sale prices.

A good vacation is a combination of "seeing" and "being". Most days we spent the mornings and early afternoons doing the former. Lunch was our big meal. Then we'd relax at the condo, graze, play cards, and watch the river go by.

Another fabulous stay in Estes

This was our second time staying in Sandra's lovely home (last stay was in June, 2010 - see other post). Once again, we had a fabulous trip to Estes and a perfect home to return to each night. Sandra is a treat to work with and her home is the perfect, peaceful retreat. We traveled with my parents, husband and 2 boys, ages 9 & 6. We enjoyed our hikes in RMNP (and a seperate hike to summit Mt. Bierstadt with just my husband), and returning each evening to relax on the deck to hear the Big Thompson river right outside the back and watch the elk as we grilled out and played cards. We would highly recommend Sandra's place for your trip to Estes (just don't take our weekend! - kidding). With all the personal touches Sandra provides, we truly feel like it's our second home, with plans to return any time we travel to Estes.

Owner's Response: Amy, you and your family are very sweet, many thanks for the kind words! It's wonderful having you guys come and stay at my place... and I'm so glad you had another great time this year. I'm very blessed to have so many great people stay at my townhome and it's nice to know you feel at home there as well.

I look forward to seeing you and the rest of the family next year... thanks again for the lovely review! .. Sandra
