River house is located on a six-acre wooded lot on the East Machias River. The home is extremely spacious, comprised of two full baths, two half baths, eight bedrooms, accommodating 15 adults with twin, double and king-size beds. Also included is a washer and dryer, full kitchen, dining room, living room with fireplace, library, two playrooms and attached deck. Enjoy slow-moving fresh water, swimming with a dock and picnic area on the river. Vegetable garden, play area, horseshoes and short walking trails are on-site and you can easily walk the distance to a Rails to Trails connection. Close access to Machias and many coastal attractions, including the Salmon, Blueberry and Birding Festivals. Ideal for multi-family vacation, reunion or a group of friends. Also a picturesque location for a small wedding or retreat. Dogs welcome. No smoking. Contact person lives on-site.

Washington County: Downeast Washington County Maine is recognized as one of the country's finest birdwatching areas. It is one of the few areas in the country where Puffins can be viewed. Visit East and West Quoddy Lighthouses, Lobster Festivals, Blueberry Festivals. Take a Kayak trip along the famous rocky coast of Maine or hike the Bold Coast Trail. Day trips to Bar Harbor and Arcadia National Park, Campabello Island (Canada), and whale watching are all possible from this location.

Machias Area: Machias is the perfect blend of modern comfort and country life. The surrounding area is rich with blueberry fields, hiking trails, rivers, lakes, and miles of Maine coast and harbors. A group of friends totaling 12 people stayed here for 3 days and two nights in the summer of '09. We had a great time just hanging around the house and were BLOWN away when we first walked in. The size of this house is off the charts and the layout is perfect. The upstairs just went on and on and on. Fun times for all...

Home away from home

We stayed in the house during the second week of July, 2009. This was a lovely home away from home. They supplied everything you could possibly need. We held our daughter rehearsal dinner for the wedding. We were able to prepare for the wedding easily and best of all our family was able to stay all together in this house giving us more time to spend together. I highly recommend this house for any larger gathering. The beauty of the home and property was unforgettable. We would stay again if the opportunity presence itself.

Wonderful Time

We had the best time at this home and may go back next year if our schedules allow. Very nice clean home. My husband and I rented this home so our entire family and there families could have a vacation together, what a wonderful time we had. The place really is big enough so you can get a break if you need it. We so much enjoyed swimming, kayaking, and tubing in the river. I would recommend this home to anyone. We ate the Blue Bird Ranch Restaurant which has very good food. Thank you very much to the Mathers for a wonderful time. Hope, very much, to return. Perley, Gayle and Family

Great space!

A great place for our family of 12 to get together for a week's vacation! Loved having space for each of us to spread out and sleep, and space to lounge without being on top of each other! Plenty of room for the kids to play inside and out. Great deck to enjoy even if it wasn't real hot out, comfortable dinning space so could eat together.
