Great home for BMT Graduation

This was a nice place for our BMT graduate and family to hang out. The kitchen and outdoor grill gave us everything we needed for a homestyle cookout one afternoon. The beds were really comfortable, and the linens fresh and crisp. The whole house was very clean. The added-on porch room at the back (not in pictures) was mostly a storage room, but we only walked through it to get out to the back yard. The neighborhood was quiet, and while it is an odd mixture of homes and lots, we felt safe and welcome -- the neighbors even waved good morning. We did use the security system, but never had any problems at all.
The drive to Lackland was about 20 minutes to the checkpoint gate, and an easy hop onto I-10 or I-410. We still allowed 30 minutes when we were returning our airman to the base again at night, but found the worst traffic was definitely in the mornings. From 410 we were able to pick up fresh Shipley donuts to take in on a base liberty day. Nearer to the house is what is purported to be the best taco in America at Taco Taco, but sadly we missed the chance to decide for ourselves, as their hours are 7 am to 2 pm. We rounded the corner and found really good take-out from a place called Pancharitos -- better, we thought, than La Fogata. But La Fogata still gets a 10 for atmosphere. Central Market is awesome. The Riverwalk and the Alamo were a 10 minute drive from the house. It only took about 10 minutes to get to the airport, as well.
But when we weren't at the base, we spent most of our time in this home just being one big happy family again. Our graduate gave marching, turning, and about-face lessons to a small regiment of left-footed family on the rooftop terrace -- it's much harder than it looks! Would have been nice if there were some chairs or seating area up there. Overall It really worked out great for what we needed and wanted during our stay in San Antonio. So much nicer than being in a hotel! The owners gave very prompt and courteous service, making the whole process very clear and uncomplicated, letting us focus on our graduation plans.
