It worked perfectly for us, and everyone had a fantastic time. Thank you so much! We will recommend this location to anyone needing accommodation in the area, and we continue to be impressed with VRBO. Thanks again. Surprisingly well stocked kitchen, etc.
We rented this house for 9 of us to stay while we attended a family wedding on the island. There were several issues we had with the home. We called on some of them, but were not accommodated for our concerns.
The positives are that this home is right on the beach and the outdoor area is spectacular! If you spend your time enjoying the deck and the beach and have a small group of 6 at the most, you will probably love this rental!
However, we had 9 people- 4 couples and one single sibling. This is NOT a 4 bedroom/sleeps 10 as advertised. The fourth "bedroom" is actually a den. It also serves as the public passthrough to the hot tub and back door. The french doors have no covering on them so people in the living room and kitchen can see directly in to your room while you change your clothes. Would be great for a friends weekend where no one cares, but I rented the house for my boyfriend's family. I felt bad about splitting up any couples into the 4th bedroom (den) with trundle beds, so my boyfriend and I took them. It was very uncomfortable and we felt silly paying so much to sleep on the floor. The den room would be fine for kids, but not adults who may want some privacy, or regular sized bed to share. I was frustrated bc I contacted them ahead of time to inquire how it slept 10 and was not warned that some couples would need to sleep apart, and that the "fourth bedroom" had no privacy. 9 was very overcrowded because the house is very small and everyone but the master guests share 1 small bathroom. To say it was tight for us all getting ready for a wedding is an understatement. Overpriced!
When we got there, the place wasn't cleaned very well. The garbage was not taken out, even though the guest info says they will charge you if you have more than 1 bag of garbage. The hot tub was covered in sand and dirt, which we discovered after we got in it in the dark (because the outdoor lighting was out). When we brought it up the next day, the lady said sorry and used a tool to extract some of the dirt, but it still wasn't very clean. We were still charged the expensive cleaning fee. While she was there to check on the lighting, the fireplace randomly exploded with black soot of some sort. She vacuumed it up and and told us not to use the fireplace. The living/dining room lights didn't work, which was difficult for me only because I had to assemble and decorate the wedding cake the night before. There were other issues… but I am out of characters.
We had 8 family members enjoy a pre-Thanksgiving weekend on the water. The hosts graciously added a table and 8 chairs to help us celebrate. Sunrises are spectacular! Loved the Jacuzzi too. The kitchen appointments would be a "B" grade. We brought all of our food already prepared. Thoughtful touches like plenty of cozy throws and extra pillows and blankets were very appreciated. The hosts responded quickly when we had questions.
This property was right on the water! We really enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the locals clamming. We enjoyed paddle boarding on the calm water as well as crabbing. We reached our crab limit and had awesome appetizers that night! We also enjoyed the hot tub, camp fire and s'mores. I loved the basket of local produce that greeted us.
The lighting in the main living areas were tricky. Not much of it!
We loved your home! Excellent location for us as we had a family wedding on the island not too far away! I was so glad that we had a day before to enjoy the beach and view. The weather was perfect the fire pit was wonderful for sitting around and telling family stories. The fresh garden vegetables were a lovely touch, enjoyed them very much. The only thing that I would have to add is the lack of bowls in the kitchen. We found ourselves looking several times during our stay while we were cooking and needed a bowl or two for mixing up something or serving. That is a minor issue and I would only add that I did note that the carpet in the living room area was not as clean as compared to the rest of the lovely home. I realize how hard that is to keep up with renting out and understand. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us, we had a lovely time and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay on the island!
Beautiful views and right on the water with nice landscaping and a large deck. Neighborhood is very quiet. Main bathroom has a crazy bidet! They had steel pans to cook with which adequate, but there was nothing to bake with. There are 2 reasons I don't rank this place higher: It is really small for a place that advertises as being able to sleep 10, and we were there on maybe the hottest days of the year where the A/C did nothing for the bedrooms and very little for the main house. The bedrooms, 2 in particular were very small and hot. We had 6 adults and 5 kids under the age of 4. That alone was tough, but the lack of space made it tougher. The common areas were all nice, but still not that much space for all of us if it wasn't for the outside. I imagine 10 adults would break into a fistfight over an extended stay. 6 is the tops this place should advertise. The A/c is not central. It is essentially a wall unit like you typically find in Europe. 80% of the days of the year it probably does just fine, but it was upper 80s for our stay and really hot inside. We ended up buying a fan for our room which helped. Other than that they could provide beach toys, canoe, kayaks, or something to take more advantage of the water, but that may be nitpicking.
