Imagine staying in a vineyard in the south of Germany in the middle of a beautiful wine growing region. The vista from the sunny flat looks out onto the characteristic ‘Mosel’ countryside. You will feel perfectly at home here in a child-friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Quell your holiday desires with a visit to us at the winery.

Special features: We produce our own wine and can offer you some excellent ‘Mosel’ wine. You are of course welcome to taste it! Our cosy sampling-bar opens in the evenings in the months between July and October. Here, you can experience the wide variety and excellent quality of our wine and satisfy your hunger as well. As a guest, you are welcome to sample our wine outside our opening hours.

Spring, summer and autumn at the Mosel: Watch how the vines come to life again in the month of May. Experience how the vines grow in June and the fine fragrance of the grape flowers which cover the mountainside. Our grape harvest begins at the end of September. Everywhere in the region all the wine growers gather their harvest. Perhaps you would want to join in and help one day and learn how to harvest with us. In the evening you can taste the specialities of the region: ‘Federweißer’ (new wine), and ‘Zwiebelkuchen’ (onion quiche).

Winter at the Mosel: After the harvest is finished everything quietens down. The autumn leaves fall from the vines and the countryside takes on a new appeal. The mild climate at this time of year is perfect for going for walks and relaxing. Spend Christmas far away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the piece and quiet at home with us.

A hidden gem

When freely browsing in the internet, looking for a characterful place to stay relatively close to Hahn Airport, which, for instance, is "in the middle of nowhere", I founded out this property tucked away in a small village at Rhineland-Palatinate. Firstly I had some problems to understand some things because their website was only in German (and made in a way that Google Translator can't recognise the text), but, as soon as we exchanged an email, everything got clear. When arriving there, we realized that everything was so nice and tidy as we could expect (or even more than that). Units are pretty large and totaly self-contained. They are also well appointed with good mattresses and blinds in the windows, which guarantees perfect dark, silent nights for sleep (even under the clear summer nights). All in all, it's an amazing place for families in the Germany's countryside. Very recommended!

Superb accommodation, great location

Our first visit was for a week in September 2011 and we had a most enjoyable holiday.

The accommodation is spacious, sparklingly clean and very well equipped. Sunset viewed from our balcony was an extremely pleasant experience.

It is nicely situated within easy reach of the beautiful Moselle Valley, with roads on either side of the river bank providing miles of stunning views. The border with Luxemburg is within easy reach.

Access to the accommodation involves a flight of steps, which may prove a problem for the disabled. Otherwise, we have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation in all respects. We feel it is good value and hope to visit again in 2012.

Excellent accommodation in a quiet village

We stayed for a week in late August, 2010. The apartment was pristine, and the bottle of wine provided free by our hostess much appreciated after the long (but simple and uneventful) drive from Dunkirk (4hrs, 260 miles).

Although the flat itself was exactly as described on the web site (although the towels were a bit small), it should be emphasised that the village of Osann is extremely quiet, verging on the moribund - one restaurant with eccentric opening hours and pub which seemed to be both busy but closed and locked to deter non-locals getting in - perhaps a cunning strategy by the landlord to get over Germany's no-smoking law as, as (looking in the window) the atmosphere was usually blue with fag smoke.

However, there are many places with to visit nearby with excellent eating and drinking facilities - Zell, Bernkastel, Traben, Wittlich and (especially) the beautiful city of Trier. If you like walking, there are several terrific paths nearby - our favourite was the Schiffswandweg, which takes you along the rim of the Mosel valley from Monzel to Piesport - beautiful views and a Roman well, still operational and in use.

Finally, well worth sampling the local wines - the Riesling halbtrocken was a revelation for those of us who equate German wine with 'hock' and 'liebfraumilch'.
