It is home to Mount Waialeale, known as the wettest spot on the planet. With a population of 56,000, Kauai is known as the 'Garden Island'. The temperate climate sees summer temperatures near 90 and enjoys winter evening temperatures in the 60's. Rainfall varies from 40 inches to 440 at Mount Waialeale. The island is known for its breath taking beauty, and has been the back drop for several major films including; South Pacific, Blue Hawaii, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jurassic Park.
