Water views, privacy, and tranquility characterize this classic Cape Cod gem. Located at the end of a private road, this lovely shingled Cape overlooks a crystalline, spring-fed lake suitable for swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking.
Have your lunch on the stone patio while sunlight twinkles on the lake, or sip a glass of wine in the newly-rebuilt sunroom. Beautiful Old Silver Beach is just minutes away, and when you get back, you can rinse off in the enclosed outdoor hot-and-cold shower.
Five public golf courses are within minutes of the house. A gourmet meal, some fabulous shopping and the latest movies are just down the road at Mashpee Commons or in Falmouth. If you enjoy biking, the Shining Sea Bikeway will take you from Falmouth to Wood's Hole. This adorable house is in a perfect location, combining beauty and privacy with proximity to everything the Cape has to offer.
Rentals by the week only, Saturday to Saturday. In season (June 1 to Labor Day), rentals are $1700/week. Off season, $850 per week.

This adorable home belonged to my husband's parents. Since acquiring it in 2002, we have repainted the entire interior, installed wainscoting in the kitchen and upstairs bathroom, laid a new floor in the kitchen, replaced bathroom linoleum with tile, installed new fixtures in the upstairs bathroom, rebuilt the sunroom, installed a stone patio and walkway, installed an enclosed, hot and cold outdoor shower, upgraded the electrical system, re-shingled, replaced the roof and all windows, repointed the chimney and repaired the garage foundation. In 2012, we put new tile floors in the bathrooms and hardwood on the second floor landing. We are now working on the gardens. We rent the house during the summers to offset some of these costs and to enable us to keep the home in the family. We live north of Boston and have three grown children.
Owner is also a real estate sales agent, holding license #009512312 from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Meredith Tufts purchased this house in 2002
The peace and privacy we enjoy here is unmatched. We awake to bird songs in the spring, watch geese and ducks as they glide in over the lake, and enjoy swimming in the lake. We play tennis at nearby Falmouth High School, walk the holly reservation at Ashumet, go antiquing, and go shopping and dining at nearby Mashpee Commons. Our sister and brother-in-law have used the place as a base for enjoying the beach and the many public golf courses nearby.
Thank you, thank you! We love the house and location, and this was our best vacation EVER! P.S., Could we rent it the same week next year?
Dude, this house is awesome!--Margot
Our first stay in East Falmouth and this house made the stay awesome! Very quiet location and the lake is just super! Close to the busy Falmouth / Woods Hole areas but quiet when you want it. Washer / dryer in basement is a bonus. Hint: only boat launch to larger lake (Coonamessett) across the street, which also does not allow motor boats, is from dirt road down Hatchville Road on left. A long, windy road that is a bit rough, but worth it.
Everything about the place was magical! We enjoyed the well equiped kitchen, the spacious family room and the dining room table big enough to do puzzles on.The lake was warm enough to swim in and it was lovely sitting on the sand by the water as well as hanging out on the hammock and eating outside on the patio. A short walk down the quiet street to Coonamessett Farm was a real treat. We had dinner with live music there on Wednesday night and they have a great ice cream shop.
The one suggestion with the place would be to include the linen service in the price as we brought our own because we didn't have time to wash sheets before check out time. We have recommended this charming place to friends.
We just spent a week at "the Cutest Place on the Cape!
The property was everything that the listing said it was and more. The house was very comfortable, clean and had everything needed for an extended stay.
The location was beautiful, as well as convenient for exploring the Cape, islands and mainland.
The owner answered all of our questions promptly. She also gave us many helpful hints and ideas of things to see and do. We had a marvelous time and would highly recommend this property to others.
Thanks again for a memorable visit to Cape Cod!,
Thank you Meredith for offering your wonderful house for rent! We absolutely loved it. The house was super clean, very well decorated, had great spaces for gathering such as the outdoor patio, the screen porch, and the living room, and was very well equipped for cooking, playing, and relaxing. We loved the quiet little dead end street, and met several lovely neighbors at the little beach in our backyard. We also loved listening to the birds in the evening, while eating dinner we cooked on the charcoal grill. One of the very best things about the house was the crystal clear pond right behind the house. We could clearly see the bottom while standing on the raft in 10 to 12 feet of water. It was lovely to swim first thing in the morning before spending the day at the beach, or biking, or exploring, and then return to the pond to unwind at the end of the day. We have stayed at many vacation homes over the years and this is the first one that we loved enough to book again for next year. Thank you so much!!!!
We just returned from a week at this lovely house. For the first time ever, we have rolled over our deposit so that we can be sure to return next year. The house is beautiful, inside and out. The lake was crystal clear. Our kids loved the floating dock, the fun water toys that were at the house, the comfortable water temperature, and the outdoor shower. The house is really well equiped--beds comfortable, many fun games to choose from, nicely decorated. We enjoyed the many activites Falmouth has to offer--great beaches, sailing trips, fireworks. We were delighted by our vacation! We will be back next year!
We've stayed at this house on the end of Shady Lane 5 times now. It is great. The best thing is the location. The highlight is the lake. You can see it from big windows in the living room, and watch the sunset. You can swim in it, there is a beach and a raft. We have kids, and they love it. The pond was 84 degrees in June! And there is shade on the little beach if you want it. It is completely peaceful at the end of a small road, no cars drive by. There is a farm about 10 minutes walk away where you can buy fresh eggs and produce. And of course you can drive to any of the ocean beaches or Falmouth town, about 10 minutes by car. The house itself is in great shape, a very nicely maintained classic cape house. The two upstairs bedrooms are quite large, the bathrooms are all modern and nice, and the living room that looks west over the pond is wonderful. It is a cute, romantic couples place and also a kid-perfect rental. And we haven't had to deal with any problems, but the owner has always been very easy to deal with. I hope all that info is helpful. We'll be back there again for visit #6.
