Overview

Joshua Tree House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-10)

This is a true Mountain Oasis in the desert at the Joshua Tree National Park entrance:

One property, one bedroom house, extra sleeping in living room, and private-entrance guest quarters, plus a detached art studio for recreation and extra sleeping.

The house is a colorfully-painted ranch style, with mostly glass walls facing the mountain views in the back yard, with private entrance guest quarters and bath, plus a detached art studio for work, play, and/or extra sleeping.

Get away from the world, no phones, TV’s, or internet. All that is avail in town for emergencies, but this is a real desert-mountain retreat.

The house is one big room with living room, fire place, kitchen, and sunken area for enjoying the Mountain View with a separate and private master bedroom off the living room area.

And the other side of the open space holds the dining area with a hallway off to the bath. Through the colonnade and down the path are the guest quarters, a single large bedroom with Mountain View and bath.

There is an art studio next to it, with a convertible bed and day bed for extra sleeping.

Enjoy the orchard of 8 fruit trees, garden, large pine trees, and many other trees, cactus, and other desert plants.

There is lots of shade for lazy orchard naps in the hammock after lunch prepared in the outdoor kitchen.

You can spend early evenings in the hot tubs, among the rocks, after hiking, rock climbing, or just driving through the gorgeous Joshua Tree Park. Or after horse back riding available down the road.

There are restaurants, art galleries, live theatre, music festivals, and we are only 25 minutes from Desert Hot Springs and its famous hot tubs and pool where you can spend the day for one small price.

Further we are 35 minutes from Palm Springs its airport, spas, golf courses, arts and culture.

The Salton Sea is an 1 1/2 hrs away with fishing, swimming, and boating. LA and the Ocean communities are 2 1/2 hrs away for a great day trip.

The Wild Flower season is in the spring, and everything is in bloom, and people come from all over the country to see it. The fall and winter the area is a mecca for the rock climbers and mild weather fans. So, spend a week or a weekend in this beautiful desert Oasis.

Desert Adventure

  • 5 of 5

From one adventure to another: hiking and exploring in the national park during the day and then driving to the end of Doggie Trail to our extended desert adventure. The property was a playground for our 3 1/2 year old and our 6 1/2 year old grandchildren, and we older people were just as excited about this experience. We hope to visit again.

Fantastic Family Time

  • 5 of 5

WOW!

Perfect private location-tons of huge boulders to ramble about, beautiful views, no neighbors in site, hoot and holla with the moon!

Brought my parents and in-laws out to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday. None of them had ever been to Joshua Tree, and this oasis provided us the perfect celebration opportunity.

Thank you for making an amazing place! Can't wait to come back again and enjoy!

The Location is Insane

  • 5 of 5

Hands-down, the best thing about this place is the property. The backyard is totally private, and filled with huge boulder mountains that are just begging to be climbed. At the top of one you see for miles into the sunset. On top of the other you see for miles into the sunrise. This also butts-up against preserved land, so you can hike right from the property into miles and miles of beautiful desert. The hot tub set to max gets crazy hot, fyi. There are bats and hawks and tons of lizards.

As far as the house itself, it was very comfy, although a bit outdated. Everything inside feels kind of old. But it really doesn't matter b/c it's comfortable and the views are beautiful no matter where you are in the house. Also, there are a bunch of structures and tons of beds, so this would be a perfect place for a group of friends. I brought my girlfriend for Valentine's Day and it was perfectly romantic. But if you had a crew it would be great too. I can't wait to go back!

More than we expected. Unlike anything in the high desert

  • 5 of 5

I've seen a lot of interesting properties and houses in the high desert (even lived there for a short period of time,) but nothing like this place. Photos don't do justice. There are 4 private buildings surrounded by gardens and trees. Miles of untouched desert mountains and boulder formations in every direction, without a single house in site. Had a very special weekend with my friends. Spent most of the night by a fire and in the hot tub. Hiked all day. The surrounding land might actually better than the national park down the road. Endless supply of of canyons and trails to explore leading from the backyard. My group got a lot more than we expected. Thanks Randy

A Personal Exodus

  • 5 of 5

I have been remiss writing this review for a long time because I wanted to spend focused time writing about what was one of the most important retreats I have ever taken.

My boyfriend and I (along with our little dog Gemma) have stayed at this house a few times before. We come here to recharge once a year (at least) and especially around our anniversary, but this time I had an additional agenda to embark on a year-long art project that focused solely on my stay in this house.

We stayed for over a week and each day I continued a ritual of sketching, photographing, making DV diaries, hiking and meditating. I would then take this experience and the resulting materials back with me to my studio in Los Angeles and create paintings and a film that would result in a show that will exhibit next spring.

I am now half way into the project.

This experience has not only changed the way I work as an artist and the way I paint, but what I paint, the mediums I use, who I am, and my outlook on art, in life, and in general.

My gratitude for this precious hideaway is overflowing with love and thanks and I can't wait to return again. :)

Unconventional in a magnificent way!

  • 5 of 5

OMG this place is wondrous! My husband and I stayed with my nephew & his friend who were climbing in Joshua Tree. We had 3 absolutely magical nights. Cooking outside, omelettes for breakfast, and steaks with skewered vegetables for dinner was superb!

The beds were quite comfortable and the showers were fine. The view and the overall ambiance were spectacular!

If you want to experience Joshua Tree without pomp and circumstance this is the place. Yes there are beds for many but the art studio and the flowering courtyards made us think that a very talented woman once lived here that we wish we could have met!

To the owner I suggest some updated kitchen ware, but otherwise, bravo, we will be back!!!!
