' Turn your back on the bright lights, constant noise, and tacky trimmings of tourist traps. Instead, unwind at 'Renaissance Beach,' a simple but well-appointed home in a place where you control your schedule. This is a clean, wholesome environment in a rural, wooded setting. It's quiet here, and we let it get dark at night! When was the last time you went star-gazing? Renaissance Beach looks small but lives big. Comfortably accommodates family vacations, or for fishing, hunting or skiing getaways. It's a two-minute stroll to the beach (opens for swimming weekends beginning Memorial Day weekend, daily from June 18 through Labor Day). Air-conditioned (window unit) for added comfort.
Big Bass Lake for 4 Seasons: Big Bass Lake is a 4-season vacation community. SUMMER is delightful: warm days for water sports and other outdoor activities, including indoor/outdoor pools, tennis and basketball courts, exercise and sauna at recreational area that also has a lounge with a beautiful fireplace. Cool nights in the warmer weather for refreshing sleep.
In the FALL, visitors enjoy spectacular foliage (usually best Sept. 20-Oct.20), hiking and biking, fishing, hunting, and excursions to local attractions. This is probably the best season to enjoy tens of thousands of acres of state parks and gamelands accessible within less than 10 miles of Big Bass Lake.
WINTER enthusiasts find this a prime area for skiing, snow-boarding, tubing, cross country skiing, ice-fishing, and hunting; there's usually lots of snow.
SPRING is for those who like surprises, as it can seem like winter one day, sunny and warm the next.
The house was very nice, just the right size for our visit with my sons family and granddaughter. It was completely furnished with towels, blankets, soap shampoo
and even some coffee. There were plates , utensils, and lots of area brochures.
The house was a short walk to the lake and a convenient area to walk for exercise.
I saw deer on every morning walk. The porch was lovely to sit on and to practice some water color painting.
We enjoyed the area and the place.
I would recommend it to anyone, it was clean and comfortable.
My family and I had a wonderful time when we stayed at Big Bass Lake. We had never been there before and the ease of scheduling our trip was the start of a great experience. The owner was flexible with our check-in and check-out days and times and provided a very reasonable rate. The house is very cozy, yet provided us with all of the space and amenities we needed to have a relaxing weekend. We spent a majority of the evenings on the large front deck, grilling out and enjoying the wooded lot. The house was clean and comfortable.
As for the community of Big Bass Lake itself, there is something for everyone. The men in our family fished the majority of the day while the women spent the morning walking around the lake and the afternoon by the pool. There were activities throughout the weekend as well. In addition, there is a local bar less than a mile away and we found a family fun center that was a 10 minute drive from the community.
This is a great find and a great deal for a small group/family and you won't be disappointed.
This was a fabulous spot for our family of 4. Each kid had their own bedroom, as did Mom & Dad. We had everything we needed except food, clothing, and personal toiletries, just as advertised. The location was within walking distance to the beach for swimming and boating. We were able to rent a canoe from the community association for a nominal fee and had assistance from the lifeguards who were on the beach in getting ready to go out on the water. We didn't even need the community association's life jackets since the cabin had them available to us. When we arrived, we found a clean cabin and written directions on the counter to the nearest grocery store so that we could purchase the food we needed. When we called the owner on our last morning to let her know we were checking out, we told her that we expect we will probably book here again when we go back to the area for another stay. We spent one day enjoying relaxing on the porch, swimming at the beach, playing mini-golf at Gouldsboro's Fun Station, grilling and eating on the porch, and snuggling to watch a DVD (provided by the owner). We spent the second day travelling to Bushkill Falls and to Lakota Wolf Preserve (in Columbia, NJ). Both of these stops were within an hour of the cabin. On our third day, we travelled less than 45 minutes to get to some of the Pocono's famous shopping locations including House of Candles, Callie's Candy Kitchen, and Holley Ross Pottery. On the way back from these stops, we visited Comet Books in Gouldsboro - a science fiction, rare book, comic book, and pulp fiction bookstore. Sunday morning, we travelled a short distance to Tobyhanna UMC for worship. After church, we dined at Cook's Corner.
Views of wildlife could be found just outside the cabin, where we saw a doe grazing just a few feet from the driveway. And, we saw a mother hen turkey and her young crossing the road just a few hundred yards from the entrance to the community.
Flex scheduling and packing light was a huge selling point to us. We were extremely appreciative of not needing to book a full week like many other places required. And, if we had needed to bring kitchen items, we would not had enough room in the car. The owner quickly responded to our request for info and was pleasant to speak with on the phone during the reservation, check-in, and check-out processes.
