Klamath Falls has over 300 days of sunshine per year offering a four-season recreational playground. This area has a mild year-round climate at a 4,095-foot altitude. Running Y Ranch is situated on the eastern side of the Cascade Range against the wooded shores of Upper Klamath Lake, the largest natural body of fresh water in the Pacific Northwest. The Ranch's private recreation areas feature the 335-acre Skillet Handle, a finger of forested land with its own eight miles of hiking and bike trails. There are also tennis courts, a boat basin, sports and fitness center and a canoe center. The wetlands area attracts bird-watchers with a great variety of birds including one of the greatest concentrations of bald eagles in North America.
The Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, one of only nine All-American roads in the nation, runs right by this ranch and offers dramatic views around every bend. The Winema National Forest is 20 miles away, Lake of the Woods, 20 miles, the Klamath River Canyon, 28 miles, Sky Lakes Wilderness Area 35 miles and the town of Ashland 60 miles are all in a short driving distance.
